I’ll tell ya... I heard that regyna and giggles were really shakin’ some ass in the Gay Bar earlier. I really hate that I missed that. Gay Bars always have good music, man. Gotta start checking in there more often. Maybe my sly grin avatar will get me in the door, you think?

Is 3/4" big enough? A super cool dude that camped next to us last year had what I remember as 3/4" as a dome around his car and it caved in during the windy day (50-60mph). But it did stay up I have to say. There’s a good thread on domes around here somewhere. Have you checked it out yet?

Oh NO! It caved in? That's not good! My other option is to bring a tent. But I'd rather build a dome.
I think I need to make the struts 5'3 1/2" & 4'8 1/2". I've also been talking to Robotland about domes.

So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs
Martiansky, the 10' lengths of 3/4" emt conduit
weigh about 4-1/4 lbs. ea. So if I'm right the
dome should weigh in at 148-3/4 lbs. then you
need to add the weight of all the nuts, bolts, and
washers to it.Miss Tara @ Desert Domes has got
a great website for domes. It's like a dome bible
for us do-it-yourselfers.

Thanks BadDawg! 150 lbs should be no problem then for my truck (1/2ton)
I have been to the Desert Domes site and clicked on tons of different links to lots of domes. They are all great! I just wish it'd warm up and the snow would melt so I can get to building!!
Ack!! You ever tried Young's Double Chocolate Stout? Blech!!

It caved in on one side, but it held it's ground too. I'd have used a little beefier framework myself, but then again... I've never built a dome. Robotland is exactly who I was going to suggest you contact. He’s your best bet, I’m thinking.

OH, Msky...
It just dawned on me that you might be using metal conduit, since you were talking about wieght.. The guy next to us used plastic, so it was more flexy-like, but... it popped right back after the wind let up. Metal is something different all together. Stronger, but won’t pop right back either. Just thought that was worth mentioning.

Drat. I missed my birth page. Lookie, lookie! Someone who's younger than me! I get to lord my superior experience over her!

I got way ahead of you in post count, too. Despite spreading my attention between three boards. Maybe I need a job.
