My brother e-mailed me that they had the teacher conference about my nieces Iowa basic skills test. She's in third grade and she scored in the 99th percentile, but her school work doesn't reflect that,.. she isn't working up to her ability.... My brother said " sound familiar " I had to laugh, I heard that my whole life

In highschool you allowed yourself to fail.

Now its time to allow yourself to succeed. If you don't challenge yourself, how do you grow?

My niece is a drugged kid success story she's on Ritalin, and likes school a lot more and feels a lot better about herself and her abilities.

as much as I'd like to El ... the cat is calling me to bed. Gosh, it's already 3:30 here.

Yea, my mom wants to put me on drugs. But what she doesn't realize is that they won't be the right ones. She refuses to learn about ADD, so she just wants to put me on anti depressants or anti anxiety drugs like she's been on before. Which won't work because I'm more frustrated than depressed or anxious.

Plus, my physican can't give me ADD drugs. We've already talked about it. And finding another therapist, is to daunting for me right now. Especially, since I'm not sure how long I'll have insurance.

My elementry school tried to convince my mom I had ADD and tried to put me on ritalen (sp?). My mom's response was, before you consider my son's attention span a liability and put him on drugs, try challenging him more. You see, I was finishing my homework in class and breezing through most of my assignments, leaving me with nothing to do while the rest of the class caught up to me. What do children with idle minds do? They entertain themselves. My problem wasn't my attention span, it was my method of self entertainment. I think a large number of people classified with ADD are in this boat. They are super intellegent and highly creative and without proper motivation they tend to wonder away from the subject at hand in search of something more interesting. So I taught myself to look at things from different points of view and give myself personal reward for drudging through the mundane. I've never thought that drugs were a good answer for attention disorders, it turns you into a mindless drone. A better answer is to evaluate what you are doing now and find out what it is that bores you so. Then replace that aspect with something more productive and more interesting.

Its like Z said, about being your own worst enemy. There is no need for that. Find out what it is that is holding you back and go to work on it.

*thinks these smoothies are having an extacy effect on him*

*mixes up and red bull n vodka and dangles it in front of Z*

*looks around and notices he's all alone*

*downs the drink and locks up*

It IS coffee time... got mine right here... but unfortunately I have a job (heavy equipment/cranes) that allows NO Baileys or Kahlua in my morning coffee... THAT'S a rough deal... Oh the pain...

There's that flavor syrup stuff... tastes like ... well, not like Baileys...

Stream? There's a stream in here? Are there any crawdads in it?

Um, you remind me of my 20s and 30s and major depression and the whole horrible shebang. I'd like to say that things do change. I don't have much advise without knowing more of the specifics. Oddly enough my first bought with depression was brought on by a broken arm, which is not unheard of. May or may not be an issue with your position right now--I'm trying not to project toooooo much. You probalbaly have a bunch of skills and interests that could be packaged into something more. Retail is horrible, not only don't you earn enough money, but a lot of people feel they have the right to treat you as trash. And to some extent you have to smile and take it. Emotional Labor its' called. Don't fool yourself that it isn't labor, either. Just try to think of the wine job as a chance to earn some cash and not be so pressed while you contemplate your next move.

Z, Something like that scares me though with no prior experience. Because I only have limited experience with photoshop and illustrator. I haven't used either program since '01. And I don't think I could handle that kind of pressure, being uncomfortable with my own abilities. I'm not good with deadlines.
I hate deadlines too. One of the things I've realized is that minorly psychotic (in a very loose sence) people have this advantage because one in your position would go to the interview and bluff it. And possibly get the job. Remember in a lot of places, it might be better to get a person who fits the office and train them in the skills than to get someone who has the skills but is alwyas gonna be a misfit personality. Would making a promise to yourself to start taking classes that will go towards developing your skills and interests make the wine job better--make it less like treading water?

Um you are over 18 and a doctor would be prescribing. If you're mom is willing to support drug therepy maybe you can have the doctor explain that this ist he appropriate treatment.

Blue--sorry for all the unsolicited advise. A lot of it comes from my experience. I had to learn the hard way, but sometimes I regret the years of spinning wheels. Try and take it as affection and soothing my own demons, not as coming down on you.

Please.
