Thats a big 'only' thing, and i *think* i remember a conversation around this by a group discussing options on an unrelated board. They also debated doing something similar to what you are talking about, but on top of sendmail. Consensus was it would take too much effort compared to putting up with phpBB's (and community mods) limitations.

Depends. If people are willing to develop their community around the software's limitations, fine. If they are determined to develop software around the limitations of their community, that is something else.

I dont think those two are mutually exclusive, you can have both.

Here? Dont know yet, but there may be other options to fill in the gaps.

To some extent that is true. I suppose I was getting at deciding what is most important. I would say this community is bounded by the limitations of phpBB. At other places I can think of (Trey's board and Tribe, for example) the software is an expression of the desired community dynamic and continues to evolve in the expression those communities.

I've been watching you 2's disscusion for awhile now and I belive that Nuke has the features you both speak of.
I dont know what it would take for the org to go the route of Nuke but it seems Nuke would solve all of the problems most speak of on this board.

Swampdog, I don't know what notation you mentally have after my name, but I actually (for various reasons) try and listen to criticisms and try not to go after newbies and low posters. (except those who paint targets on thier chests--and even there I'm trying to swear off for health reasons.) I think it's important that us high posters don't monopolize the board--although I do enforce certain boundaries. the LLC is funding it after all. So if you have anything specific to say to me, feel free, and if you don't step on toes or pick a fight I think that you'll be okay with most of us.

I think a lot of the time it's a newbie misunderstanding our humor, or our failing to take into account that they're brand new. When you've seen ten new users come in and make the same mistake (e.g. Cross-post) it's hard not be curt with them, but we have to remember that it's the first time they've done it. I realize I've been a dick to some new users in previous times, but have made a deliberate effort to rectify that.

Cryptofishist - I have nothing but the highest regard for you. You are a frequent poster who is nearly always level headed and reasonable.

As far as the intimidation factor, maybe it's me, I'm coming out of hiding a fair bit this week, and having fun getting to know you all a bit more.

So,
when is the next summit/meeting and when are the notes of the last one getting posted?
What are the new objectives going to be.
Are we going to see what the stat is for eplaya and where eplaya stands?
