Wow, some typos change the meaning of the sentence a whole lot more than others, don't they? the difference a simple S can make!

Well, an old friend would go straight for the vodka - but only if it was room temperature. He used to carry a hip flask when golfing - after one swallow of body temperature vodka with no chaser - you learned to say no when he offered you a drink.

(Black cat walks in with a pull-start cord, goes behind the counter to grab a swig of sputnik’s vodka, and without swallowing it, proceeds out the back door. Before exiting, he turns and gives the sign to indicate, “I”ll be back in a minute”)

I had a generator that the recoil mechanism kind of vaporized on. The pull cord made it last another year, but the pulley didn't rachet any more and you had to slip the pulley off at the the last second with a flip of the cord.

(Black cat walks back in and opens the lid to a wooden crate that’s behind the counter)
Yelling over the din:
Thanks for the swig of hooch, sput. I needed it to prime the carb. In a minute or so it should have things up to speed so that the gas turbine can take over. It’s a little further away and shouldn’t be so overpoweringly noisy.

(The gas engine shuts down and a vague roar can be heard off in the distance)
Oh, that’s better...
So I got this real deal on a Turbine powered cryogenerator from “somewhere” in Europe. I think it was part of some cold war era military program to freeze heads or something...
(Ice is beginning to rapidly form inside the wooden crate, which houses a very well insulated stainless steel box)

[quote="sputnik"]Dicey.
Why not just leave the pulley on?[/quote]
Because then it would fly off at an unknown moment at an unknown azimuth. Exciting, yes - but annoying to look for when you needed it again. It was a bit of a Frankengenerator.

Hey Synch, I think you need to uncheck the little checkbox that says Disable BBCode in this post.synchronicity wrote:sputnik wrote:Dicey.

You could weld or otherwise fasten the pully.

My friends... If we can't get to the bar, we can bring the bar to us...
Witness the general store’s first uber-beer cooler. Don’t leave them in too long, though, or you’ll be driving nails with ‘em

Treu, true. But I've always said, "If it can be built, it can be over built". Besides it was on sale!!!That seems like an awfully expensive way to cryogenically freeze something, at least in the long term.
