Finding Groundwater
Finding Groundwater
I've come across reference that there's a fair amount of water in the ground at the BR Playa. Does anybody know if this can be found where the camps are set up, or is it just localized to around the hotsprings? I know that this water wouldn't be useful for drinking, but if I filtered it first, I could put it in a watergun for added fun. Any ideas?

You can't (interms of its being a permit violation) dig holes large enough and deep enough to reach groundwater. If the watertable were within reach, it would make for some mighty weird camping. Just how many gallons of water gun water do you need?

Besides, that water is nasty. It is highly alkaline and will eat your gizzard out. Nasty stuff that I certainly wouldn't want sprayed on me and corrosive enough to play hell with standard plumbing and standard water pumps.
BAD idea even if it didn't violate the permit.

You have just been through the rough and tumble of the classic newbie question on eplaya. You got ~a half dozen repsonces of varying degrees of usefullness, plus a flirtaticious digression. How did we do? Do you feel respected and accepted? Do you feel your question was answered in a timely manner?
We have just reorganized this board, and the persons responsible might want to hear about your experience.

I see. That's all right, I've seen worse reactions on different boards. You find all kinds on the net. I've been as accepted as a newbie generally is.
I was aware of the remodel. I had to wait about two weeks in order to ask the question. Everything seems in order as far as the system goes.

The permit allows holes in the ground no larger than six inches diameter and two or three feet deep for setting posts. Anything larger, or a wet sloppy mess as you might create trying to make a dug well or pool, can't be filled in properly and would be a potential hazard for vehicles after the event.

Thanks for sticking it through. Personally, I was wondering how many posts people were going to throw at it, I thought the first couple were enough.

Well, me too. But I'm not paying for this board. And at the risk of sounding pendantic and prissy, I'm trying to find out if I go to far and am scaring off the newbies.

I hope so, otherwise I dont fit.
Sorry, should have been more clear. As crypto said, I dont know how a newbie would take a dozen or so comments thrown at their question. Personally I dont have a problem with it, but I *think* I know people here well enough to realize what they are about, and have come to appreciate the feedback.
Will seems to have taken it right, so I can be completely off with this. I also think being the role of moderator I need to watch what I say or people may automatically take it as board policy. That sort of sucks.

I hear ya, spec. I try and remember my posting stats and take on that sort of burden as well. Bad thing if I make this my private playground.

Does this have something to do with grinding found water?
