sorry to hear that Blue is blue... *sprinkles good juju dust over the shape under the blanket and lays a gentle kiss atop her head*

damn! missed a bitchen dance party, apparantly... nice equipment up in here, tho.

i am personally kinda glad the bar has slowed down. it's much easier to keep up. and we do need our rest once in a while, eh?

so. my new beau has sorta flaked on me twice now ( i say 'sorta' cuz it's been when we don't really have plans, just "what are doing later? call me when your done", like we're gonna hang out, just don't know when or where, and i call later and get his machine and wait a while and feel pathetic about waiting around for a phone call so i go do my own thing and don't hear from him till after midnight. ), and i'm torn between indignant, independant (scared) mama ready to blow him off and/or set him straight, and easy-going, understanding good-girl willing to understand he has a life and i really don't need to be as needy as all that. i honestly just wish he'd just let me know when something else comes up so i can move on with my evening and not feel pathetic about waiting and feeling stood-up.

maybe i should say that, huh...?

Give him a deadline or say call me either way. Of, if I don't hear from you by 8:30, I'm gone. No problem in lettin him know you have a life.

As I was telling MISS Love the other day (over drinks at Bleu, of course!) that growing up with five (5!) sisters has advantages. I can still hear one of my sisters giving me a 10 minute lecture (this was when I was about 12) that "If you say you're going to call a girl over the weekend, you'd damn well better call. Otherwise, she's going to be waiting by the phone and when you don't call she's going to get hurt and angry" and so on and so on. For ten full minutes.

That one stayed with me. But believe Sensei, I've found lots of other ways to screw up.

Kisses to you, Miss Tish. When did you say you were moving up here again?

fwiw tish (just popping in here to give my two plinks), telling him that shows that you're both the cool girl AND the one who's not going to sit around waiting for him... both things that he probably needs to know. I'd just have a conversation with him and figure out a way to set those expectations: maybe he doesn't understand that you're setting aside your night because you're expecting to do something with him. perhaps explaining that 'when you ask me what i'm doing later and tell me you'll call me, I sort of assume that you want to spend time with me, so I don't plan anything else' and then let him either agree to that expectation or to clarify what HE'S expecting. Or, maybe you don't even have to have a Big Conversation about it, but the next time it happens, (he says 'what're you doing later, i'll call you', just have him clarify when he'll call you, or that if you don't hear from him by suchandsuch a time, that you'll make other plans...

Tish, thanks for the juju. But I was more drunk than blue, and perhaps very stupid. (I drove when I probably shouldn't have. But the funny thing is that I probably paid better attention to the road than when I'm sober. It's the ADD.)

I'm sorry to hear about the beau. I'm sending good vibes your way.[/i]

(Peaking out of the curtains that cover his cave opening under the bar... aka “The Cat Hole”)

Ha!! Didn’t know about my little hideout, did you?

Bad blue... bad, bad... driving like that.

Relationships... jeez, I’ve got this theory that all the trouble starts when you go outside. Reminds me of a song by Ratt called “Lack of Communication”, which reminds me of most any relationship I’ve ever had at some point or another. And since I figured out about that, I’ve always been the one who tries to keep everybody informed if they are making plans that may include me, stays in touch, calls if I tell you I will, blah, blah, blah. But then I think I come off as an Obsessive/Compulsive fruitloop with insecurity issues.

Hmmmfff... yank him by the ear, tish. He'll listen or he won't (he should listen if he has any sense).

(Quickly pulls curtains closed, voice fading into the depths below...)

It all starts when you go outside...

*Wanders in, doesn't find anyone tending the bar*

*Stands around idly for a few minutes, then goes back and starts rumaging through the refrigerator's beer selection, looking for something black as sin and bitter as hell*

Anybody know if they still make Blackhook nowadays? Haven't seen that in the proverbial coon's age...

*Locates said Blackhook in the back after looking up the Red Hook site to see find out yes, it does still exist, pops top, swigs*

*Fishes out a rag and starts polishing mugs*

*Dances the 'I'm Waiting for Data So I Can Go Home' dance*

I'll take a chai, no booze for me. Flying tonight special op with FLIR ships. Might be intense fun.

Very traditional. Gin, dash of vermouth. Ranger Genius gave me a great recipe a while ago. Put ice in a martini glass and splash some vermouth on. Put the gin in a shaker full of ice and shake. Swirl the ice in the glass and dump. Shake the shaker for a bit and dump into the glass. Olive for garnish.

Oh yeah. Some insurance agent called me "gaunt" at work yesterday.

Is that like Icabod Crane, Montgomery Burns?!

I'd be upset, but have since roasted & eaten his livestock.

HEY! Is Lebatt's nasty or something? I've never tried it before. I usually drink Leinie's Creamy Dark. Haven't had anything tonight except a Caffeine Free Diet Coke in reality land.

I think LaBatts' is a step or at least half a step below Leinie's. Personally, that is.
