as nasty a sentiment as that was, it makes sense. And goes a long way toward easing my mind. That and making sure people near me know that it's not a seizure and what to do. Thanks to all for the load off!!

You can also walk over to the med stations (on the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock plazas) and talk to the people over there. If you want to contact them early, [email protected] will get you in contact with them. they'd rather you figure it out now, than learn the hardway on the playa.

Emergen-C has electrolytes

Post by Tafkah » Wed Apr 06, 2005 9:18 am

Emergen-C has lots of electrolytes and trace minerals:

Sodium - 60 mg
Potassium - 200 mg
Magnesium - 60 mg
Calcium - 50 mg
Zink - 2 mg
Manganese - 1 mg
Chromium - 10 mcg

And just 5 grams of sugar.

I put a packet in my water bottle once a day and it works like a charm.

Crypto, that's a really good idea! For all I know there's been a lot of experience with this already.

Tafkah, where do you get that stuff again? 60mgs is totally within my acceptable limits even if I do break down and have a hot dog that day!

Thanks a billion, again, all of you! Much e-love from the dizzy chick!

If you do go with gatorade, remember to drink a lot of water as well--the sugar does do bad things otherwise. Some people recommend pedialite and that makes sence in a way--it's a "medicine" as it were, not a sports drink so the ratios of electrolytes are probably better researched. Expensive though. Also, if you have a health food store or Whole Foods you can get those electryolytes in small packets--just add water.

I am glad to have seen this about too much water. I just recently started a diet that requires you to drink lots of water. I didn't know over doing the water intake and not watching my balance of nutirents can have such an effect. I am also happy someone brought this up now, because this year is my first time going and I now know to watch myself more carefully with my fluid intake. I will make sure to pack some powdered gatorade or similar stuff to have on hand in case of such emergency and for maintenence. The sun and heat can be harsh.
