The difference between cultures that realize that they are cutting off the limb they are sitting on, environmentally speaking, and do something about it and those cultures that don't. Like Easter Island.

Trivia for the day: In Serbo-Croatian, the phrase good fish (dobra riba) is slang for an attractive woman. I asked just how they get that and was told 'think mermaids', which I interpret as meaning something or other along the lines of 'nice rack'.theCryptofishist wrote:I'm just going to be a good fish.

Oh, yes!!!
Brie... Man, we stopped at the Denver Farmers Market on the way to the playa last year (I highly recommend this to anyone going through there on Saturday morning) and I bought some brie and fresh, home made mango chutney. Oh, my... that was just something awesome in the mornings out there.

I love mango chutney. I'm definately flying, so no chance I'll be stopping along the way. Breakfast in our camp usually consisted of coffee, instant oatmeal and pop tarts. A few days cooky made pancakes and sausage and stuff, that was great. However, it really was amazing how good it was to just sit there with a big group of friends with everyone sucking on their camelbacks full of emergen-C and water.
Good times regardless of the food.

And great food can be not so great if you eat it alone, so yes, company is worth a lot.
speaking of food, we also brought potatoes. That was actually very nice too. You could wander home at whatever hour in the night with a little growl in the belly. And before you knew it, everybody was eating fried taters with lots of salt and ketchup. Mmmmm.. taters... A very good munchie food that's quick to fix and you dont' have to store them in the cooler.

Cast iron skillet, my man. Little bit of oil in there and your're going good. I'm bringing one this year with higher sides so we can do more at once. And maybe a cast iron pot for soups. Bear Creek makes some really great dry soup/chili mixes... just boil water, add mix and simmer for bit. Again, no cooler needed.
A little more cleanup needed with the soups, though.
And yes... some more martini would be great!!

Ok... I usually slice them about... oh, an 1/8 of an inch or so length-wise, so that you have a bunch of potato circles of graduating sizes. Then I’ll stand up half of the stack (middle of tater to one end) and slice them again about 1/8 of an inch, with some variance of course. Then slice the other half the same way. I believe you’d call this a Julian cut? Not quite home-fry chunks, not quite hash browns. They cook fairly quickly that way.

Yeah, between trying to pack some foods that didn’t require coolers, and having two super-coolers (two plywood boxes with expandable spray foam that invests two large coolers each), we did ok all week. Had to add a little ice and drain the water everyday, but... I had Godiva’s chocolate/raspberry truffle ice cream on Sunday evening.
