WOOT!

Post by phyreseed » Tue Apr 05, 2005 5:32 pm

so, google just updated their map site, and the pre-bman playa is visible at VERY high resolution.. check it out at http://maps.google.com ... search for "Gerlach, NV", click the "satellite" link in the upper right hand corner, then look for the darker brown section. Apparently, Bman is of interest to those using the satellite, since not all of the playa is available at such resolution.

Enjoy!
monkey-chucking good!

From the shape of the base of the man this appears to be pre-event 2003.

What would be way cool would be if it showed up on the map feature and had the streets labelled...

Yeah, I can see it now. I plan to camp at Esplanade and 8:30 and I get driving directions all the way to my camp from home.

Too bad the image is at an inverted angle.. Looks like the image was shot around 11am also. I spent the last 4 years in the Army looking at stuff very similar to this....

What was amazing to me was how they *just* happened to catch BRC during set-up *right* before opening... think that wasn't done on purpose?? >grins<

I would bet whoever is in the office that does skewing and set-up positioning for the sat pix is a Burner... then again, how can they do that and *not* be? That's like just happening to catch poll time during Indy 500. >>grins<<

I only wish they had a tighter image... I have one of our house on my desktop at work occasionally, it has our 1/3 of the street (I can see my car).... then again, some of the stuff we had in the Air Force, even as far back as the 70's, makes that look fuzzy, but, of course, I wouldn't know about any of *that* stuff...

Then again, if you can't read the face of the wrist watch, something is wrong...

Have a nice day...
