Other Scooter Mufflers?

I planning to do an art scooter that relates to the project I’m doing this year.

I know these things are noisy, what are alternate ways to muffle a scooters gas engines so I don’t drive people crazier than they already are? I’m not getting a go-ped so the techniques listed on the main burning man site won’t work without modification.
