If you can find my friend Todd Mc. in St. Paul ... he is an awesome burner, I am just not sure if he knows it yet.

Happy to burn Minnesota

Post by Blue Jester » Thu Dec 23, 2004 9:45 am

This is sooooo great, i had no idea there were other burners in this frozen state. My first time was in 2004, the first time i saw the playa it was love at first sight. I can not wait to attend in 2005 but am in some dire need of some other burners to party with. it is so hard to get people to realize thwhat burning man is all about around here. most people think it's a rave or some kind of cult but they have no clue.

Looking for local burners to talk to

Post by blueniteowl » Tue Dec 28, 2004 1:05 am

I've never been, but would like to go in 2005. I'd really love to meet people who've gone and other newbies. I need help making this dream into a reality. Anyone interested, please send me a note.

I've never gone either, but I have been wanting to go for about 5 years now!
I'm up in Duluth but get down to the cities once a month (or so).
I can't find anyone up here that wants to go. I think people think I'm nuts for asking.
I think I'll be loading up and driving out there solo and would like to meet other people who might be doing the same.
So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

Hi,
I'm from Saint Paul,
2004 was my first year, it was an amazing experience. 2005 looks like it could even be better!

There is a Yahoo group ( burningman-tc ) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/burningman-tc/
I have to say it's not a very active group with only 32 members.

A few of us did get together this fall, Bryan Dongray took some pictures of our little gathering.
http://MN.TheVaultOfHeaven.com/It was a pretty sad turnout compared with the stories and pictures I'm sure you've seen from the left coast. But considering it was a kind of cool and rainy evening and we are Minnesotans who tend to not be joiners it was a good start.
I had a good time anyway seeing local Burners for the first time and hearing other peoples stories as well as sharing my own.

I don't think we have obtained our critical mass or the right mix of people to make things really begin
to happen here yet. Who knows your presence could be just what our little community needs to take off.

Steve

Zulegoona,
Did you drive out last year solo or carpool? I'm wondering if people drive straight through (many drivers) or take a few days getting there and back?

I need a job!

Post by blueniteowl » Sun Jan 09, 2005 2:02 am

I'm looking for a job around the cities. I've got loads of customer service experience but no college. If anyone knows of anything interesting and would like to share, it would be much appreciated.

I think I need new friends

Post by chaliceinnana » Sat Apr 02, 2005 7:40 am

None of my friends think that camping in the desert in August to commune with the spirit sounds like fun.

I need new friends.

I live in the twin cities and am very interested in meeting some people who I can share food, water, shelter and atomic cherries with on the playa.

See ya! Cheryl
I am looking for people to go to burning man with. All my friends are rather mundane and uninterested.

Clearly, I need some new friends.

Hi chaliceinnana, there is a another message board that you may want to look into here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/burningman-tc/ There is a small group of us in the cities that were trying to put together a local event. Unfortunatly it has fallen through for this year. But some of us still meet and get together every once in a while. If you'd like to meet for coffee sometime, write me a note. Oh, and welcome to eplaya.

Chaliceinnana,
More MPLS. burners all the time that is so great. This is such a burning city I love it. I am camping with some lovely penguines (well they seem lovely) at the lost penguine camp. I would be delighted to share with you as long as I can have whatever the hell an atomic cherry is. I have also come to the conclusion that I need new freinds so maybe we could be of service to each other, cause c'mon who in there right mind would pass up the chance to drive 3500 miles to camp in an un-forgiving desert for a week+......fools.
Rob the bank, give the money to the poor, then steal from the poor and shoot the money.......or something like that.

Heya folks.

I origionally wanted to post the Harvestfest decompression to this thread... ach... such is life.

If ya'll are lookin for some other burner/soon-to-be burners, I recommend checkin out www.wookiefoot.com This band was a major turnin point in me turning towards my inner freak and letting that freak flag fly.... They helped me open up, learn to spin fire, stilt-walk, and are open-free freaks.

If you are a spinner/player/DJ/free-spirit, drop Mr. Fun an e-mail @
[email protected] and ask to get on the e-mail list. He helps organize spin-jams... bi-monthly events where We rent out a dance space, bring in DJ's, Hand drums, skill Toys, and a will to play. It's the best way to get through a long hard winter, and to play through the summer.

Look forward to burnin w/ ya'll in 05
