Ok, an 1) article about how he acquired the nick-name during during the 80's in a dispute over how to handle Cuban refugees when he was governor of Arkansas. 2) An article about how he lied about a blowjob and likes to pose for the camera when campaigning. 3) another article about the 1980 campaign.joel the ornery wrote:ask, and you shall receive...
That's it???? That's the worst you could find about Bill Clinton? He lied about a blowjob and was "two-faced" during a political campaign in 1980? Seriously?
Even *I* could come up with worse that that (he also sold presidential pardons during his last month in office.)
In what way do these acts compare with lying to the American public and the world at large in order to start a war, torturing prisoners, imprisoning American citizens without trial, using Terri Shaivo as a political pawn, trying to destroy the Bill of Rights and trying to force Christianity on America?
Personally, I think Bill Frist's cat-killing alone trumps lying about a blowjob.

Yah. Everytime I see the word neo-facist I have a clear idea that the writer is a neo-idiot with an neo-agenda. Comprende, neo-amigo?
Contrary to what you might have heard at the latest Bush bashing party, not all conservatives are baby eaters. This type of mentality, the one of exclusion instead of inclusion, is exactly why the democrats lost the election. If they would have tried to appeal to the MINDS of the conservatives they would have won by a landslide. Instead they rallied their troops behind "Anyone But Bush" and alienated millions, which is, as the dear Reverand Spock once said, "Highly Illogical".
After seeing how they've handled losing twice in a row, I don't feel sorry for them either. You reap what you sow, doncha know?
I'm independant. I don't need to follow one or the other. I follow my own. I vote with my brain and my heart. It about balance, it's always about balance. Everything! Just ask a unicylist.

Another one of the reasons why I dont think a two party system can adaquately represent such a diverse population. I think Bush`s only interest in Christians was to manipulate them intofalk wrote:[quote=" trying to force Christianity on America?
voting for him by pandering to thier strong views about abortion and prayer in schools.....a brilliant, but totally un-ethical strategy.
He was elected because he was an excellent sheep herder,... and since

Personally, I think the USA`s political "parties" have become so skewed in the last 20 years, that there is little difference between them anymore. They are becoming less important, and less effective in trying to reform and evolve this huge, lumbering, abusive, immoral Government machine that has conquered our country, and now rules us with it`s various "agencies".

The solution is painfully clear, elect officials that support your values. If the majority of the country doesn't agree then you must deal with it and try to effect change at the local level. That is where you will find sucess. Attacking the other guy sure as hell doesn't win his support.
It is indeed a slippery slope when discussing politics. I find it amazing that so many will blindly follow one extreme when in reality everyone is a bit of both. I, for one, tend to be morally liberal but fiscally conservative. I cannot align myself with either party because neither fully supports my values.
To accuse one party of being the root of all evil is pure ignorance. Did corporate influence all of a sudden raise it's ugly head when the Bush administration came into office? Some would have you believe so. Let's see, who pressed for and enacted NAFTA? See what I'm getting at? Both parties have been irresponsible and neither truly reflects their constituents.
I'm all for a 3rd or 4th party. The more choices the better.
You and I may not agree with Bush's policies or moral intentions but I do have to give him credit for doing what he feels is right. He feels it, says it, then does it. It's been a long time since we had a president that did that. Most try to cater to both extremes, trying not to step on too many toes, and in the end nothing gets done. Who knows what the history books will say about him 50 years from now. Roosevelt was guilty of many crimes that nudged us into WWII. He publicly said he wanted no part of the war but secretly did everything he could to get us in it. You don't hear about that too much, do you?

No. That`s not what I meant. But thanks for exhibiting the extreme, suppositive type of arguments that continue to polarize whats left of our political system. Democracy is the battle of extremes after all....
However, with the exception of your 1 misrepresentation, skillfully administered, I agree with alot of what you say.
I meant that when our Constitution was drafted, imperfect as it was(13th Amendment) It was designed to be a system "of the people" ...
....NOT "people in a system".
Although we still elect representatives at a local and national level, they
can only be minimally effective in affecting CHANGE because they have been reduced to playing at and catering to our huge wasteful bureaucracies and Agencies.
Every phase of our lives has been subjected to and is controlled by some federal agency or guideline. And much like Sheep, our population
is just staring blindly, and following "whoever" into the future .
I think that "whoever" is in charge right now, is just as in-effective as the last whoever......but the military-industrial boys...got it goin` on .
I registered as a Republican 20 some years ago, because I was(and still am) a firm believer in state`s rights. The "Publicans" were the closest thing there was to being an Anarchist as there was.............
(not) funny how some things change......
Men and Women are no longer in control of our country....
It`s just a thing. A big thing.

Re: Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ! ! !
I completely agree. How about this for a misinterpretation of the intent of our founding fathers; the separation of church and state was intended to keep the Catholic church from running the country they way it ran so many others. I'm pretty damn sure it had nothing to do with the nit picky, don't mention god in any way, issue that we see today.EvilDustBooger wrote: I meant that when our Constitution was drafted, imperfect as it was(13th Amendment) It was designed to be a system "of the people" ...

Then we have to elect people who will remain vigilant in over seeing these agencies. They answer to congress (usually) and have to have budgets approved for funding. Hit them in the pocket book. I'd love to see them end the war on drugs (war on Americans usually) and disband the DEA. Don't let the FDA have sole power over what substance goes into what schedule. IF people want to screw up their lives with drugs then let them. They are going to do it anyways. Hell, it's easier for kids to get drugs than alcohol. I guess I'm a bit of a Darwinist too. Some people should NOT live long enough to breed.EvilDustBooger wrote: Although we still elect representatives at a local and national level, they

That is my biggest gripe with that party. Seems both sides are after complete power now. Let's hope the Supreme Court upholds state's rights by ruling favorably in Ashcroft vs Raich. The whole Medical MJ thing is a great example of why state's rights are so important. Watch Alaska too, those guys are just ballsy enough to tell the feds to F Off. They take their citizens rights very seriously.EvilDustBooger wrote: I registered as a Republican 20 some years ago, because I was(and still am) a firm believer in state`s rights. Right on S3.
I totally agree with disbanding the many publically funded / private armies that presently are preying on our citizens.
Why is marijuana still illegal ?
If it were legal you couldn`t ask $1,000+ per pound for it,.. then turn around and get millions in public funding to prosecute and incarcerate
the people who use it......
.....once again....follow the money.....

very succinctly stated, EviLLe...well done!
(i know, such cynicism, but geez!) i hesitate to say this, but i think that men and women are no longer in control of our country because it is so hard not to become part of the runaway train. i vote religiously, but i have to choose between the lesser of evils. abstaining from voting as a protest (as people i know do)is not effective. but choosing between the "puppet on the left and the puppet on the right" (from a bill hicks bit)
is just as ineffective. you shop for groceries at walley world to save a few bucks and you are suddenly part of the problem because you are sucking the big scaly pecker (once again, stolen from bill hicks) of the demon monolithic mom and pop-store killer.
we used to joke about mcdonalds food all being made from one central vat of goop---they just poured it into burger molds and french fry molds and cherry pie molds. but to make an astonishingly desperate leap into allegory hell---that's kind of what life seems like in 2005...so little seems like the real deal anymore, it's all a bait and switch served up by big bizness. ugh.
i don't know what to do except try to walk a slightly, hopefully less offensive, less destructive version of tha walk. tho of course i spend my day trying to sell the $300 shirts instead of our less expensivo ones...so am i feeding the dragon or just helping to feed myself? (you remember...it is all about me me me!)
(i know...drifting waaaaay off topic...but when the opportunity arises to talk about myself, well....?!?)
and i agree on the issues of state's rights, but where i live we have elected officials whose knuckles actually drag the ground. (and judges who swear that they've never actually masturbated in their offices. but that's a whole 'nother story. oh the humanity.) dare i dream of a day when my state's elected officials actually think about the well-being of their constituents and not of lining their pockets?
and i'm only 41, but i don't think that the war on drugs will end in my lifetime...people are making too much money off of it.
our culture is quickly sinking into a morass of money/energy/material-grubbing solipsism...me-me-me-more-more-more.Men and Women are no longer in control of our country....

but they are NEO FASCISTS
Everytime I see the word neo-facist I have a clear idea that the writer is a neo-idiot with an neo-agenda. Comprende, neo-amigo?
Actually the word makes absolute sense to me.
Fascism is defined as a system of goverment characterized by dictatorship, belligerent nationalism, racism, and militarism. If you cannot examine the parallels of our current goverment with that, well... Ill give u the benefit of the doubt, maybe you have not thought about it long enough.
The word "neo" is attached for a reason, and that is to seperate the radical agenda of the people currently in power from traditional republicans and fiscally responsible conservatives that you claim to be.
Neo means "in a new or recent way".
The subsequent posts that were written verify a general discontent with the current trajectory of our society, at the hands of the goverment. Voting is futile, it is nearly impossible to run for public office, corporate rights always trump the individual, state rights are deteriorating, and we are slowly becoming a police state. Every effort to become moderate or reach across the isle has become trampled in ideology and hatred.
The lines have been drawn and this country is more divided than ever, therefore I feel being objective, impartial, and elitist is a big waste of time. Now is the time more than ever to stand up for what you believe in. Nobody is above all this, and everyone will eventually be affected
Politics suck, i wish I knew how some of you remain "above it all" or at least give the illusion that you do.

Great New Idea
Hey. I`ve got it. Soapbox camp, ...an elevated platform to cast your pearls from!! Right next to the Dark Noodle Bondage Bar, where your audience will be captivated. A center of collective minds debating the pertinant issues of the day....We could rant ourselves into a frenzy, and stage some sort of a non-lethal riot of discontents....we could rage around BRC searching for hidden caches of ill gained toilet paper!!!
You Know there`s alot of crappy things at hand, but you gotta love this country............sorry, got patriotic there for a minute......
Let me know what you think about the soapbox, I`m intrigued now....hmmmm. Maybe not all politics, maybe societal issues, emotional issues... a place ffffffffffffffffffffor Venting.
And.....as far as for everything YOU said.......
Oh. Viva La Revolutione~

I`ll try a little google research on speakers corner and see if they have some time honored protocol that works for multiple speakers. My guess is that the bravest - most interesting speaker gets the most attention...and gets to rule the soapbox until he/she makes his/her point, or a consensus of the other participants compel him/her to let other views be heard.
Wouldn`t doubt if there is some Greek Forum rules that apply.
