I'm wondering if anyone sees any advantages to coming to BRC from the North. From Chico, I've discovered a route going on very small roads through very small towns that avoids Reno all together. Has anyone taken that route and seen it avoid any traffic problems going in and out?
Thanks much,
Eric

One of the small roads in the area (the Junco Road) is notorius for killing tires. You want to make sure that the roads you go on don't leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. I'm assuming you go up the Feather River Canyon to Quincy then east from there. Make sure your car/truck is in good shape. ONe possible advantage of going through Reno is stocking up on supply opportunities. I'm not sure when the gas spent on detouring to get there is more than the gas to haul water ect. up the Sierra. I'd advise learning more about the road. Sorry I couldn't help.

I guess it depends on what small road you're talking about. If you talking about going all the way up past susanville to alturas then over cedar pass I can say that is a beautiful and easy way to go. You bypass all the traffic heading from reno-gerlach. It would be pretty out of the way though, but if you dont' like traffic it's the way to go. If you're talking about some little dirt road over the pass refer to previous post from theCryptofishist.

I might have meant Susanville. My knowledge of Sierra Nevada towns is lessor since I no longer live in Butte County. The Feather River canyon is very scenic! If that's an issue.
