hi, my name is josh, a.k.a. fuck art, and im from reno. i bet you're thinking hey thats fucked up, fuck art? its just my way of expressing my concerns for the futre of burning man. If we keep alowwing all of the coorporate sponsering and advertising to eat away at the perfect society we all used to know, than there is really no point in any of it, thats why i say fuck art, damn the man.

Hello

Post by ir0nx » Tue May 24, 2005 2:52 pm

Hi, my name is Braden, I am a Drum and Bass DJ out of SoCal. I went to Burning Man for 3 days back in 99 and was hooked ever since. Unfortunately the last couple of years I have been unable to attend, mainly because I was out of the country. Now my friends and I are coming back and setting up a theme camp (still awaiting final approval). The camp will be mainly dedicated to jungle and drumNbass music. I hope to meet some new people at Burning Man this year and introduce them to our style of music. Peace.

If you're cleaver, maybe you can have some of your local friends drive some of your equipment in thier cars/trucks. Throw them some gas money.
As for a ride--Hageymonof this board and the Black Rock International Burner Hostel will be once again offering up his place in Sparks as a meeting place for ride share. It's only good until Tuesday or so, once he leaves for the playa--too bad. Bud he works hard for this event and deserves to enjoy it. There will be lots of obvious burners so hitching should be possible to--if you're willing to risk it. (I don't know how "risky" it is. So far I have not heard of anyone posing as a burner to pick up hitchhikers for nefarious purposes. YOu must do your own risk/benefit analysis.) Maybe your friends can pick you up at the airport, too.

Ah. If it was so perfect, why did it fall? IMHO living in a golden age of the past is a big waste of time.

Still working on it

Post by caritasrainbow » Fri May 27, 2005 10:55 am

Still working on the logistics. I'm going out of town for an ordination next week so I guess stuff will be put on hold until I get back. Soooo don't want to go to the ordination (dad is going to be a catholic priest).
Anyway, I'm super tempted to just go ahead and get my ticket before I leave...
I haven't totally decided about the whole transport thing yet, for either myself or my stuff. It'll all work out though. There are so many people going from here I'm sure I won't get stuck. Plus I will totally check out the rideshare thing once I figure out if I'm going to fly or ride.
Now I'm beginning ro work on my list of stuff to bring.
I'm thinking jump boots would be perfect? Anyone, anyone??

My Name is Felecia, this will be my first time at Burning Man. A friend of mine told me about Burning Man, committed to a ride share but now I think I am going alone which kinda sucks but only for the drive. Once I get to Burning Man I know I will make many friends and it will be an incredible experiance. I am beside myself in anticipation!!!

Ordinarily, I’d be quite leery of hanging out with someone who has a name like yours, Flea... what with all that digging and scratching and such. But this is a bit of a different place and so instead I’ll give you a big “Hello!!” Spend some time hanging around here... read, think, wonder, read some more. And I suspect that in the process, you’ll make friends long before stepping foot on the playa. I had planned on going it alone last year, but wound up meeting another local burner and we shared the ride out and back. A good friendship has developed because of it.

But you know... I’d say either way you go it’ll be a good thing.

Welcome!!

Hello everyone, Hello Flea welcome home.....Image

Try hooking up a rideshare or going with an existing theme camp. If you do ride to the event alone make a small burningman out of duct tape on your back window soon you will be engulfed in a caravan of other like souls heading home as well.

if you put a mini man on your backwindow now, you will be surprised at the number of burners that will respond, honking, waving, and if time/vibe permits, more...

I'm an Indiana Ex-Patriot, oldest of 6, living in Brooklyn. I just saw the pony burn in Deleware. My compadres invited me to stay with them @ their Mind Body n Fire camp. I like liberty and the pursuit of happiness, so it felt like home. I'm hoping those that I still call strangers won't remain so for long. Go ahead and hollar if ya feel ya have to.

Hello everyone, my real name is Jordan but I prefer just Web or WebGraphics.

I heard about Burning Man from a famous female online gamer whose interview I read in 2002. When I went and checked out the website I really didn't understand what Burning Man was.

A few years later I saw it mentioned again at the Shroomery and decided I would like to attend and also to participate. I am currently living in northern Canada so my attendance may be a bit tricky.

For Lyriclees - "out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you."

I was given that book the day i graduated from high school.

For all those that helped me on here with encouragement when I decided to try to get permission from my professor to miss the first week of school - I have had one teacher respond. He said go for it, he's going to miss the second class day himself due to a conferene. Now if the other three say yes... ::does a little dance and starts figuring out how to pack his car::

My name is Matt and I am hoping to be able to attend this year. I have wanted to attend for several years now but life always got in the way. Naughty thing, lilfe. Anyway, this year it looks like I may be able to finally do it, provided I can scrounge up the money and maybe even find some other like minded individuals.

Hope to see you guys!!!

All the beautiful poeple I met there told me that if I was amazed by this that Burning Man. would send me on to heavan. So i'm trying to work it out to be there this year. Thanks for the chance to join and hope to meet new and wonderful beings now and in the future.
Love,
Tuck

Hello, I am one of the newcomers this year, a "virgin," and I go by the name Mary, some of the time. Angry Butterfly, my attire is often mistaken for and gawked at as a costume, as well, and somehow I simply cannot imagine being in a place (city) in which this doesn't happen. This will be interesting.

Hello Sari and welcome!!

I’m curious... please describe some of your gawked attire.

I guess I do dress a bit outlandishly (relatively, of course), once in a while, LeChatNoir, with boas, flappers, scuba gear...

Flea - there are tons of us here in town. There are gatherings booked every weekend from now until playa, I think. Recompression is at the end of this month. And we gather on Mondays for antics at the burner bar. Get in touch if you're interested in finding out more...

Sari doesn't wear flippers, flappers, or scuba gear...not from what I've seen, anyway. Maybe she's been getting a little weirder, lately...Bad influences and the like.

Hey, Fat SAM, it's a good thing you threw in that little challenge cushion, because, for your information, last time I left the house I was disguised as a merman...
