Just curious here...

I'm wondering why the burgeoning rise in fundraisers for events that traditionally have been 'spontaneous' and needing nothing other than participation by, um, participants to be successful?

Also, where (or is) there a mechanism for accountability for folks who're raising monies for a BM related event?

Also, having the event on a weekend (gay pride) that sees the largest number of party fundraisers than any other weekend in San francisco makes me.... a bit suspect.

There. I said it.

And isn't Critical Tits supposed to be about women empowering women? Then how come everytime I read something about the party it's from a guy?

I worked the critical tits after-party last year, and may do so again this year.

Yes, it's a party run by men for the benefit of women, (and yes, the guys running it probably haven't missed the fact that there are a lot of women at the party), but the bottom line is that the women seemed to be having a great time. I think a lot of women like the idea of a party where the men exist merely to serve the women. I know the line for the massage tent wrapped around the block. (The woman I went with said the only way they could have made it better would have been to have four guys working each massage table.)

Are there women in charge of running the after-party? It might make for a better party, but like I said, I didn't hear anybody complaining.

Still waiting for the original poster to come forward and explain what 'funds' need to be raised in his fundraiser.

Folks-

Falk said it as well as I could.

As far as funds, we need funds to purchase and then transport supplies and equipment to the playa for the party. It takes more than "participants" to have a fun, safe enviroment at BM these days. We provide shade, sound, refreshments, etc., for several thousand people at the afterparty.

However, a big part of the FUNdraiser is also about FUN. Notice that we have an incredible all-women DJ line-up this year. These women are psyched to play in support of CT. We're all psyched to have a good time.

There is nothing mandatory about this event. Come if you'd like (we hope you will!)
