As part of some telecom mergers and other contract consolidations I've been offered a a choice of 3 jobs; one is in Seattle, another one of them is in the D.C. area starting in Sept of this year, and the last is a K.C. option I don't want. There's a lot of things to consider about a move like this but one thing on my list is to get a feel for the BM regional community out there. I looked at the BM Regional website: http://regionals.burningman.com/us_dc_was.html and read up on Playa del Fuego but I was curious how active the community is the rest of the year. If anyone can offer insight could you post here or PM me with details? Thanks in advance!

I keep getting anonymous emails like this one...much of it is in regard to the post above. I'm going to share it with everyone...enjoy:

- I don't normally go in depth online about stuff like this but I work for Sprint...which is getting ready to merge with Nextel. And what happens after a merger? Layoffs...to cut costs. Well the new HQ will be in Virginia which explains part of this request..they offered me a chance to stay on but I'd have to move...and if I don't want to stay with the company I've got another offer out West. I hope this explanation settles some of the undercurrents about this request.

And as for the lymphoma status, it's in remission. Not gone. Not cured. It doesn't matter what anybody thinks about that either.

Curious about what? Obviously you didn't read the messages or you wouldn't ask such a silly question. I've got a DC area job offer. I wanted to know more about burner oriented events out there so I posted a question, then a clarifying question and I got some really good replies offline. It has nothing to do with the blog at all. But it's funny you mention the blog...you seem to like it enough to strip content from it for your 3Playa cartoons. I'm quite impressed.

Anyway thanks for your reply, it gives my original question more visibility and I can learn more about the area and it's events.

Yup, like your supposed stem cell replacement therapy you're wrenching to your audience over. A therapy that BTW, been banned in all forms by the FDA for well over a year now. Surely you can come up with a bigger whopper than that.

But back to the DC area regional. Playa del Fuego is about the only gig that I know of that's been happening with any consistency near DC. Never been personally only because the time of year that they have it seems to be early spring-ish which is NOT the best time given that the winter weather-though less chilly-still tends to be um...moist. Every photo I've seen of the event is usually pictured against a gray, brooding sky. Having said that every report I've heard from friends that have gone have had very positive things to say about it. I'm still not sure to what extent the event encompasees the mid-Atlantic/Southern/DC area thing seeing as the Chesapeake bay is a barrier to some coming up from parts of Virginia and the Carolinas. I'm assuming its focused more on NorVa/DC and the upper mid-Atlantic. Would be nice to have some calrification from the folks who invest so much of themselves into the event.
