Are the little stone on the playa iron? I was thinking of a bar magnet under the MV axel. But skip it if I going to just get stones instead of the metal moop.

I doubt you would pick-up any rocks because they're (a) generally embedded in the dirt (b) generally weakly magnetic, if at all and (c) too heavy compared to their magnetism.

One thing you *might* get that would be cool is meteorites which contain way more iron vs. mass.

Did find a small critter vertebra. It was ready to turn to dust. Gifted it to next from me. He put it a cotton filled colectors box. Guess I got the right ooff that time.

Most of the dark rocks you find on/in the playa cruft are basalts (igneous in origin).

More specifically: andesite (I've been told).

Really stoked about riding up to Black Rock Point this year.

I was out in deep playa one year. The wind came up. So I turned my back to wait it out. It was like a fog. I looked down and saw these small stones rolling in front of the wind. Pretty f.n neat to see.
