Whenever I'm out on MOOP patrol, I have Stan Ridgeway's "Pick It Up and Put It In Your Pocket" going through my head.

"Pick it up and put it in your pocket,
or somebody else will."

Cat Stevens, "If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out"

Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
'Cause there's a million things to be
You know that there are

And if you want to live high, live high
And if you want to live low, live low
'Cause there's a million ways to go
You know that there are

You can do what you want
The opportunity's on
And if you can find a new way
You can do it today
You can make it all true
And you can make it undo
you see ah ah ah
its easy ah ah ah
You only need to know

Well if you want to say yes, say yes
And if you want to say no, say no
'Cause there's a million ways to go
You know that there are

And if you want to be me, be me
And if you want to be you, be you
'Cause there's a million things to do
You know that there are

You can do what you want
The opportunity's on
And if you can find a new way
You can do it today
You can make it all true
And you can make it undo
you see ah ah ah
its easy ah ah ah
You only need to know

Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
'Cause there's a million things to be
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are

though I have not been to burningman yet, through this site and talking to people who have, I have formed an opinion about what a beautiful thing burningman is,which some of you may say is right or wrong. I do not know truly what burningman is like yet but I know what I hope it is like. Having said that the song that reminds me of burningman is 'Speed of sound" by Coldplay. I really dont know why, all I know is that evertime it comes on the radio I think of BM.

Thanks, Zem, for mentioning Coldplay before I bring them up again. They are just too good and their popularity is a testimant to a world that wants to heal. I like you song suggestion, especially the line that repeats "if you'd seen it then you'd understand". Straight up playa, that.

the last part of solsbury hill- peter gabriel

Today I don’t need a replacement
I’ll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart was going boom boom boom
Hey, I said, you can keep my things, they’ve come to take me home.

Almost everything on the "Floater" album "Burning Sosobra". Even the picture on the front is the spitting image of The Man.

Oooh! I almost forgot, the first time I drove onto the Playa i was listening to The Police. The song was Message in a Bottle. Surprisingly fitting for the event.

"A hundred million castaways looking for a home."

Floater's Milk of Heaven almost brought tears to our eyes leaving BM in 2004:

"Oh, don't seek control
And the milk of heaven will flow
Why would you want to keep this from anyone?

Please, please, on my knees
My heart is on my sleeve
And all I need is just one little taste of it

And all my kingdoms rise, when I'm dreaming

We lie on the grass
Soaking in the life of the lamb
So high, god rest our souls,
Oh, you cynical would not understand.

...we are born, we die, and the waves roll on."

Edited: Holy shit! I didn't even see the previous Floater reference. Same album even.

Re Floater, right on! We've gigged with them in Seattle, Portland, Eugene and Bend but never in the legendary/(in)famous Chico. I saw them in 1997 and they quickly became and have remained my favorite band, so it's always a frickin' huge honor to play with them. Lost count of how many shows I've seen after 50. Aaron, their road manager, occasionally jams with us.

Rob has 2 chilluns now so he's pretty busy but he also plays with Drumattica in Portland. If you haven't heard of those guys you should check 'em out on the web. They have members from Threscher, Sweaty Nipples, Floater and all sorts of guests and usually put on a killer show.

Back to the regularly-scheduled freaking out about Burning Man. On Saturday we built our core camp structure. Come check us out on the playa!
