Is this the buggering and impaling of young boys or something else. And if it is--cites/.diane o'thirst wrote: Baron Gilles de Rais's story: he was a warrior who suddenly found himself without a war to fight, and went back to the court (since he was nobility). He entered that cesspool with next to no knowledge of the ins and outs, and next thing he knew, he was framed, set up and bamboozled by the court politics and wound up as a stooge taking a faceplant.
So what the best thing about the last Star Wars Episode?

The latest instalment of "The Saga" was exactly what I predicted it would be:
a) The best film of the three prequels.
b) A really bad movie.
All of my feelings, thoughts, opinons, and concerns with the latest three were nobly summed up by Darth Vader...
NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I should have taken my ticket money, lit it on fire and watched it burn. It would have been more enjoyable than sitting there enduring that movie. It sucked.

I think I enjoyed the compilation of the animated miniseries the most, (if you missed it, watch for re-showings on the cartoon channel, it fucking rocked- trying to watch the individual episodes was like getting a blowjob for 5 minutes ONLY- i.e., just frustrating.) and it added to my experience with the movie- when greivous came up, I knew he was a badass motherfucker, I was kind of surprised obi-wan dispatched him so quickly.
The best part of it would have to be the campy DV screaming part, is that to be the signal now when the creators of a sci-fi legacy are tired of it and want to drive a stake through it's heart?
It did feel rushed, and kind of a lifeless exercise in loose-end-tying-up. I agree it could have used more time. I know 2-hour movies are the most efficient for maximizing profits, but come on, it's not like people aren't going to see it multiple times, etc.
Ah, wait, I just realized why; two words; "director's cut". Sneaky way to get twice the $.
As for George's "sly" (?) commentary on the state of the U.S.'s union; I'd be more impressed if someone who currently has more money than anyone else on the planet besides bill gates put a little of that money into some kind of direct action to slow the tide of that particular movement.
I wasn't too disappointed, it was eye candy and I expected no more. Too bad it wasn't paced better.

Normally when someone says "cites" at me I laugh and go on with the knowledge that if they really cared enough about the reference they'll go and look it up for themselves. Which is what I do, incidentally — if I come across a statement I Google on it and see for myself and that's why you never hear me ask for cites.
But since it's not much of a bother I'll stand and deliver. Here's the site/article I was mainly drawing from in the comparison:
http://www.shanmonster.com/witch/witches/gilles.html
What I was referring to was that Gilles de Rais was called a "satanist," and though I do admit he did some horrific things, he did so because he was pretty much a bumpkin nobleman who was taken for a ride by a bunch of cynical charlatans who saw all his money and decided to milk him for all he was worth. The people who led him on could be spiritual antecedents of professional psychics and tarot readers today, it's just that they manipulated de Rais, he went overboard, and screwed up ten ways from Sunday. Anyway, go ahead and read up, it's a good article.

Ouch. Following Diane's link to read about young children being murdered and sexually abused is no way to start your morning.
Here's a link that's more on-topic and funny as hell if you can take some ribbing about your sci-fi jones; http://www.dailyfoo.com/?i=1355
It's from Dallas' website the dailyfoo.com, and features 10 MINUTES of solid funny- Triumph the comic insult dog giving a reality check to fans in line to see the first showing of RotS.
Enjoy!

Here's another one for the record: Cerebus the Aardvark. Just getting Lord Julius on stage again would be worth the price of admission.
Oooh, but how to address Cirinism vs Kevilism in our f-up'ed culture? Herrrmm.
Fuck it, let's just have Cerebus get roped into being the Kitchen Staff Supervisor and then the Pope, and then whisked off to the moon, and wrap it up with a Jaka bow to amuse the kiddies.

Oh and Samtzu, was it you who wanted to borrow the Robert Silverber book "Tom O'Bedlam"? What a psycho-drama this book would make.
I'd like to see Lord Valentine's Castle made into a movie of all the Silverberg books. That would be big fun for the Pre-teen set. It's what inspired me to learn how to juggle.

I'll be in my blanket fort until further notice.
Don't even need to get off the Star Wars topic to discuss child murder....I just finally saw III yesterday, and couldn't have been more disappointed.OCCAM'S SLEDGE-O-MATIC wrote:Ouch. Man, does THAT ever paint a picture....cowboyangel wrote:Now why does the Dark Master insist on Darth wearing that stupid mask design? Why not something more provocative, like John Water's face?
And imagine the Star Wars movies directed by him! Yoda eating poodle crap! Jabba in a playpen, talking about eggs! Princess Leia shoplifting while Luke teabags Boba Fett!

I get it Sand_man....I feel that way about all the old Jesus films of the 50's-60's......like Demetrius and the Gladiators, The Robe, Spartacus, Quo Vadis, Ben Hur, Ten Commanadments....you know..........
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believe is false."- William Casey, CIA Director 1981
That's how I still am about the first three movies....I had to watch 'em all again to get the taste of the new ones out of my brain.Sand_man wrote:Awe, I loved the damn thing. I've seen it 4 times and I cry harder every time. I just can't help connecting myself very deeply into these films. They really were the thing that got me reading, filmmaking and everything. I'm just a sap, but hey.

Greetings from Jedi Master Dale Of Reno
What most seem to miss is the fact that this is the middle of the whole story, not the end! I am one of the first to see Star Wars when it premiered in Hollywood in '77. Now tell me, do you remember B. S. Galactica? I was delighted to see a new elevation in Sci-Fi from that!
Perhaps I am extremely biased for when I saw Star Wars it changed
my attitude about life. If you have heard Stephen Covey in his "Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People", he said how his daughter explained
that all the things he teaches in his seminars are what go into the training
of a Jedi Knight! I concur!
I remember saying to my brother-in-law after seeing Star Wars, "Thats who I want to be!!" Now, 28 years after being nicknamed Jedi Dale by my friends, I still aspire to be the best Jedi I can be! ALL.. know me by this nickname, relatives, coworkers, acquaintances, and now... YOU!
WANT to send me an email?
If You...Feel The Force...Flow...

When in doubt, hit the ignore key. You'll seldom miss anything worth reading, and your blood pressure will thank you.

An old thread, yes, but I was surprised that nobody had posted that.
