What are the advantages/disadvantages of a Gas vs. Electric golf carts?
I've heard various things about both, distance they can go, how to charge, random dust problems, and was just curious what peoples thoughts were about them. Is it worth a little extra dough to get one over the other?

I say those electrics are P(s)OS. ESD gets a couple every year and every year at least one is out of service at all times. This is even though ESD can recharge them on generators. No experience with the gas. And decorate, or people will poof at ya.

Here is what I heard
So this is how it works as I understand (I am not an expert on Eletrical thingys). The Playa is a harsh enviroment and it really harsh on batteries because they will dry out and won't hold a charge. You have to really take of them and you have to get very good high quality batteries.
I would go with gas, because gas works well on the Playa.

I'm just a fusser, that's what I do. Makes me seem overly pessimistic, but I'm a great overseer during packing and planning.
Batteries do die on the playa rather rapidly, our marine deep cells need frequent recharging just to run lights and die after two ~ three years. larry says I should never put the battery directly on the playa, I know about alkalai and acid, but I didn't think there'd be transference through the casing.

I've never owned a golf cart but I had some friends that did. They started out with an electric one but were sadly disappointed with the power. They ended up buying a gas cart.
Electric=quieter, less power, +where to recharge?
Gas= price of gas, noisy+emissions, more power
P.S. Have you seen the cool body kits you can get for golf cart now? You can make it look like anything from a '56 Chevy to a Hummer!!
(add $2k+ to price of cart)
