So...if we ask for a fucking PLONK button, are we going to be accused of wanting censorship on the board?

Regarding my previous posts about the g/f situations, I'm taking care of it and putting the brakes on things. Sheesh, why is it every fucking woman who I like wants to get married like there's no fucking tomorrow?

And whatever happened to just having a good fuck? No strings, no serious mind games....maybe I'm wanting too fucking much. It's not like I'm asking for an S/M session!

Sundays fucking suck. At least the Chiefs didn't fuck up and lose! 4-0! Fuckin A, it's about time!
And on top of everything else, My dad comes home from LA and brings a fucking cold. Guess who caught it?

I get charged attendance points at work, and I used all my fucking vacation / sick days to go to BM, which I have absolutely NO FUCKING REGRETS about doing and would do it again.

So I get to be charged a point for attendance and take a day off without pay.

At least I can polish up a resume and maybe find a less stressful job in case the bottom drops out of this fucked up place.

Getting sick isn't that fucking bad after all!

There is road work going on near me, and there is one of those signs advising of delays, etc. nearby. That has me thinking about whether the keyboard for entering the message is integral to the unit, as it would be kinda fun to add "FUCK YOUR DAY" as the last message.

I can't believe that dumbfuck singer dumped trash on the woman!

He didn't even have the courage to bow to her courage, let alone creatively participate.

She deserves a comp. ticket to next year's burn.

So, here's a petition to BMorg to send this performance artist a comp. ticket (if she can be located) for liberating another patch of ground in the name of radical self-expression.

Please sign your name/playaname below. Thank you very much.

The difference between their event and our event.

I saw the woman pictured the day that she decided to go for some...um, exercise. In a crowd of almost one hundred and fifty thousand people she was the only one I saw who was completely naked. She was the also the first one that I saw in which I thought "Hmmm, with a little sun screen she'd do well on the playa." Everyone who walked passed her averted their gaze said nothing or giggled and made crude comments. It's still amazing to me how people can get so freaked by seeing a naked person. I think she relly wanted to push the envelope and go for the pleasuring thing which had me howling each time I saw the look of absolute horror on the faces of the English youth. I think she needs to come over. I think she needs to be a greeter or do her schtick in Center camp one evening. I think she rocks!

I was particularly struck by the fact that, in the second picture, surrounded by trash, she appeared to be continuing undaunted.

I find myself looking at the whole thing as an illustration of power relationships, and as a microcosm of the struggle that's going on throughout the world.

The singer was presumably a professional musician. He had most likely been scheduled for, and was being paid for, his time on the stage, and was part of the official program of the festival. His voice was amplified, and he was physically placed apart from, and above, the crowd. He was standing erect, fully clothed.

His nemesis was everything he was not. She was not a professional, and was certainly not on the program. She probably had to pay to get into the event. She was effectively voiceless, and placed herself below the singer, supine, naked, vulnerable.

In spite of this apparent imbalance of authority, his power turned out to be fleeting and brittle, and his performance was irreperably damaged by the presence of an audience member's simple nudity and her carrying out of a common bodily practice.

Without resorting to -- indeed, without even referring to -- the means of struggle which the establishment might have expected, this single woman, naked to the world, completely co-opted the proceedings. She didn't wrest power from the ostensible authority on its own terms; rather, she used the power inherent in her own humanity, her own body, her own nakedness and vulnerability, to utterly derail the scheduled activity.

The singer, representing traditional authority structures, could simply not handle an interruption so completely at odds with his way of relating to the world, and so, predictably, reacted with violence (albeit, thankfully, physically harmless violence).

In response, our heroine did not jump up, suddenly embarrassed and ashamed, and run off. Rather, it would appear, she proceeded to do as she had been doing, serving thereby to only further highlight the profound weakness lurking just below the surface of what we've been hypnotized into accepting as power in this world.

I see this as a metaphor for the ongoing struggle between rigid, hierarchical, power-oriented ways of being on the one hand, and flexible, organic, humanistic ways of being on the other.

Of course, it's also quite possible that she was his psycho ex-girlfriend, and did the whole thing just to fuck up his one shot at success in his chosen field of endeavor.

But I like the first story better.

bah. it's demonstration of how imbalanced sexuality makes such relationships.

It's reprogrammed via a straight text feed from a RS232 serial port. There's software on the web somewhere that'll do it.

Are you referring to the fact that her introduction of sexuality into the situation shifted the power balance so rapidly and powefully, or are you speaking about the existing power imbalance between the genders?
III also wrote:image your response if it had been a man uninvitedly masturbating at the feet of a female singer...
Well, all of the power relationship stuff I was rambling on about would have been equally (in)valid, as I made it a point not to bring gender into the equation. However, I doubt I would have come up with the same scenario had that been the case, so your point is well taken.

both, i think. or just that societal rules about power imbalances get tipped on their head as soon as sexuality enters the equation. (which may be why there are so many societal rules trying to inhibit sexuality, which in turn paradoxically only serve to increase the effect those rules are intended to counteract.)

The best part of the link page is below the story, where it reads "Stick your email in the box if you want to sign up for the Gurn.net eFlyer."

Almost as funny as Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider 2, clad in skin-tight body suit, warning that "Men are coming for the box."

Speaking of masturbation...
It's not that I hate you. It's just that I'm a much better person than you.

We can imagine it easily enough, but there is no such simple analogy to be made here. Sexuality just isn't symmetrical at our level of organization.

To continue the uninvited male masturbation scenario a little further, however, what if it did occur and was artfully done and welcomed as a tribute by the female singer? Would you then think the scene abject? And what, specifically, would disqualify the performance I'm describing as radical self-expression art?

I submit that introspecting about our own responses, as suggested (perhaps in a different spirit) in the snippet above, would help many of us identify and address uncritically-held beliefs that have no justification which we ourselves would accept in exchange for limitations on freedom of expression.

One other thing: Even if she were the musician's psycho ex-girlfriend, that wouldn't diminish the power of her performance. Agreed, the text would have a different context, but it would continue to have great power.

So I still think everyone should copy-sign-paste the petition above and keep the ball rolling to get a free ticket for Ms. X.
