Best way to make a wind-blocking "skirt"...

Post by HughMungus » Wed Jul 06, 2005 9:03 am

...to go along the edge of a vehicle?

I haven't really thought this through. Planning on using an as-yet-undetermined vehicle as part of our camp as a wind block and thought it would be good to have some kind of skirt along one side of the vehicle to prevent the wind from blowing directly under the vehicle. Any thoughts on how to accomplish this? Plastic? Wood/cloth? Something else?

See Bob Stahl's page at
http://www.geocities.com/potatotrap/tech/bluetarp.htm
and search the page for
shield
-- you'll get the paragraph on wind shields for tents, which may give you some tips on materials

I see many campers on the beach use plywood skirts on their RV's. Many others just dig a sand berm. Since digging a playa berm isn't really an option you may want to look into the plywood method.

I personally don't see a need for one and it seems like just 1 more thing to haul/secure/remove but......
