Since I'm DETERMINED to include GOOP in every post if possible- For that kind of fine detail work it might help to GOOP the little spanglemirrors a little before sewing...Some varieties of GOOP come with a little screw-on snout (don't you wish YOU had one?) to dispense a smaller portion of the GOOPy goodness....I personally would skip sewing altogether! The only trouble I've ever had with GOOP on a surface was with it tearing off the thin outer layer of leather from an old, cheap and very dried-out leather coat. Even then, a few stitches as anchors kept the tears from starting anew once repaired.

Crypto--

Try searching on "shisha" or "shisha emboidery." It's often used in bellydance costumes. I got an awesome book on the how-to of the technique at a thrift store in Santa Fe.
