Assume 6ish on Thursday at the BDC&WB. Tradition is good for burners on playa. Reduced brain cells and all.

MissNev, she's right. Check under Art and Performance for 2005 Meet & Greet. But some things never change; the M&G began five years ago at 6 p.m. on Thursday, and frankly, nobody ever thought of a good reason to change. Only confuses us old timers. BDC&WB is located again this year in Wheeeee!Ville and we expect a record turn out. Feel free to bring finger foods, something to drink, etc. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year.

Well some Barbies are heading across the Atlantic as we speak, lady at the Post Office looked a bit dodgy so let me know when they arrive, wouldn't put it past her to half inch a couple for her own nefarious purposes.

The tower wil not be accompanying them, it was gonna cost upwards of $50 to send and 2 months to arrive, decided best if I just donated it to charity.

And on a related note...

Anyone read "Rhymes with Orange" in this morning's comic section? It's a keeper!!

Yeah, I was thinking that. You know, at one time you could get the original art for some strips (like Zippy, for example) and I wonder if... hmm... sounds like a thing to scheme about, no?? Oughta find out...

Doc,

I picked up three Barbies along with assorted clothing & small accessories at a garage sale this weekend, will ship them off to you tomorrow. I hope they die in excruciating circumstances.

Have a nice day!

I have been in Anchorage running a marathon; just got back. Thank you all for your kind donations. Checked the PO this afternoon and nothing yet. But I will certainly respond when anything arrives. And it's always in good form to drop them off during That Thing In The Desert. Make sure and demand your fair share of the wine!

BARBIE DEATH CAMP & WINE BISTRO UPDATE #5: Barbies (and assorted paraphenalia) collected to date from my friends on the ePlaya and 3playa: 25! I would like to thank dougaldutch for his/her generous contribution of 9 Barbies (8 made it across the Atlantic and the U.S. in one piece) and Barbie "stuff". I appreciate all the support. I will be leaving for Yellowstone Park on Tuesday and will be gone for two weeks. I will try and thank any other contributions when I get back.

Hey Doc,

In 04' you wanted a means to launch Barbie into orbit and I brought that to the Playa for you. Watch your mail box in a week or two. This year we will send her and two of her friends into orbit.

Doc, I had six for you but had a 'haul my excess stuff away' party (I am moving) about a month ago and some friends with a baby daughter hauled away five of them. I will drop off at least one at some point. Maybe more if I can hit some yard sales before BM.

Mine have been riding around in my car with me for a month - all addressed and ready to send. At least they have been well travelled.

Doc P,
I have a Barbie that has been on display on a tree at my campsite at a nudist resort that I go. She's quite discolored from baking in the sun for 2 years. But at least she has no tan lines. 8) I will gladly bring it to the playa for ya. She can visit her sister, Barbie, that I sent you in 2002.

Piece,
Amaretto

BARBIE DEATH CAMP & WINE BISTRO COLLECTION UPDATE #6: Barbies and assorted paraphenalia collected from my friends on the e-playa and 3playa to date: 28 (plus several dozen action figures that just arrived)! I would like to thank Kyle from Burlingame, California for his most eclectic donation. I'm going to have to open up an entirely new addition to our camp>>>Action Figurine Subcamp, or some such thing. Only 34 more days till we're on the playa! Thank you all for your support and help!

BARBIE DEATH CAMP &WINE BISTRO UPDATE #7: Barbies collected to date: 31. But a big ol' thank you to Dust Devil whose Barbie Death Plane (Air Auschwitz) came complete with three Barbies but it's own built-in time bomb. When I opened the box at the post office, amidst curious on-lookers, and the first thing this lady saw was an M-80, she nearly freaked. It wasn't until closer inspection that we saw it had been gutted, but still funny as hell. It will be a centerpiece at BDC&WB!

we put them on top of a couch in the back of my truck and they paraded and waved all over town......big hit with the girls, they pointed laughed, and waved... may be on to something here........

Doc -

I hit the barbie motherlode while garage sale hopping this past weekend. I have about a dozen with one poor solitary Ken. Will drop off the new captives (along with their sisters that have been riding around with me in my car for the last month) first part of the week.

Amoung my 36 (plus assorted parts doners/donees) I have a very strange bitchy-faced, gender confused, Japanese knock off sans voice chip. She (?) does amazing splits though. I'm becoming a very odd sort of barbie conasuear...

Last year, Doc was prominantly playing a copy of cd someone had made for him with some goofy-ass song (it sounded very master slave) in German and English. I wonder if he still has it. It was already skipping last year, or that could have been playa dust in the player. Who knows.

Sorry, it didn't survive the week. What does out there? But Cryptofishist, your shirt came in yesterday, it's great! See you next week on the playa. And Goddamn it, I expect each and every one of you knuckledraggers to come by, if not for the Meet & Greet (6 p.m. Thursday) at least for some wine or an Otter Pop or a brew. OK?
