Righto, can I whine here? I feel like whining...while most of the rest of the USA is baking I REALLY wanted to go down to the beach today and nap naked in the sun for a couple hours but could I?? NOOOO. STOOPID S. Cal is fogged in here till like 5 in the afternoon and there's a cold ocean wind even then. SO. I'm REALLY looking forward to the playa. Hah. Let's just SEE a marine layer make it all the way in to Black Rock. Nyah. Bring On the Sunshine Already!! Instead of being lazy I had to work on fixing the roof vents of my bus and actually getting some progress made. Forecast is for more "coastal fog" for the next week. I love being naked but only when I can be WARM whilst undressed, and I really do put a lot of effort (bike and gym time) into looking nice for those who might see me. Hope y'all appreciate it

Here in the north west. The cat and I have had the heat on in the mornings. So not much time to tan. But I will be at BM looking like a sack of door knobs and a little white around the edges.
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.

Dear Mr. helitack:

It is obvious you have never filled out Black Rock City Post Office form #w7dnDFks9-cnc98s5e43nx-AEGB-8tgVF653V, Revision 3a. This form must be filled out naked.

You may complete this form on the playa if you can find one.

Sincerely,

What are you talking about "if you can find one"? The playa is huge, how could you not find it?

Sheesh.

Funny thing about nudity for me. I have no problem being naked and anonymous. Walking around a nude beach? No problem. Sitting around naked with friends I may have just met? That's tougher for me.

I remember having a very nice conversation with a beautiful topless woman in center camp cafe last year while deeply trained parts of my brain were at war - "Always try to look at beautiful naked women's bodies" (from 14 years old) and "DON'T STARE" (from probably 6 years old) and "It's just a natural thing, get over it" (from about 21 years old). The sensation of my brain spinning added nicely to the otherwise pleasant chat.

I guess part of the issue is, I'm not real comfortable with close personal spaces. You know how, when there's a line of people waiting for something and you need to cut through, you always look for a likely gap? That gap is always in front of me, I don't stand close to people. If those people are naked, or I'm naked, or both, it increases my mental requirement for space and I'm standing out in the parking lot.

Oh, and I always worry about showing an Obvious Physical Reaction to beautiful naked women (and they're all beautiful) and embarassing everybody. Old guys get erections too, you know.

Just some of the little peculiarities about myself that the great big human laboratory of burning man gives me an opportunity to experiment with. I think I'll experiment with this one this year by being naked a lot. You've been warned!

Maybe I can say this with ease because I'm a hot girl who runs marathons. But so what? I think everyone has some kind of beauty about them somewhere. You just might have to look a little harder to find that beauty with some. And beauty is all in the eyes of the beholder, isn't it? I give those overweight guys on bikes big points for having the courage to just be themselves. Believe me they KNOW they are overweight guys on bikes and they don't care. THAT is beautiful. And the great thing about Burningman is the criteria by which most people live out in the "real world" doesn't apply here. If someone is less than appealing to you, ask YOURSELF why, then look again and try to see the beauty that is always there with all people.

Thanks for opening up this discussion!

As a tangent, I am not sure why we (ok, most of us anyway) seem to consider that embarrassing. Of course, if you try to act on it and are rude about it, then it is embarrassing. But if not, should it not be a compliment to the lady... and a natural thing for the man?

Personally, I think, most of my embarrassment comes from seeing the man in question embarrassed... which is, I suppose, kind of weird too.

Kinda like belching is a sign of appreciation of good food!!! A 'physical reaction' should be viewed as a compliment and nothing more.

It's more like "I feel more comfortable here" than "I don't care"....As a self-proclaimed Hot Girl, and as a woman in general, you are probably more used to (comfortable or NOT) being stared at than I, Overweight Guy On AND Off A Bike. On a good day in BRC, I can congratulate myself for having grown enough stomach to properly shade my genitals. On a bad day, it's costume time! Mmmmm...this space suit is so slimming! Bullshit. For some of us nakedness is so irrelevant to "the point" that you cannot really get farther.

In fact, for some of us it is so irrelevant that I am almost tempted to say that if you think nakedness is necessary to "get it", you never "got it" yourself. But since as we all know the "it" is not necessarily the same for every person, I think I'll take that back. :)

Though, I admit, it gets a bit difficult to sleep after 10 am or so if you are wearing much anything.

This is year number 8 for me, I don't go naked (except in the shower or in the confines of my tent), and I'm quite certain that I "get it."

It shouldnt matter what you look like to be able to get naked. Just because you may not like somthing or the way someone looks doesnt mean they should have to put clothes to please you.
No matter what the naked body looks like its beatiful...all diffarent shapes and sizes. Get over yourself..Your not perfect!!Im not perfect noone is

Wimps. I don't get naked at Bman for health reasons, but I will shed it for the Winter Solstice Bonfire ... 28 frickin' degrees and a freezing fog. Yeah baby, that's NEKKID!

I did wear my boots and hat. No need to be entirely exposed.

Now that my wife is pregnant - I don't "get it" anymore.

We always make a point of riding our bikes naked at night when its chilly out. But we do that at home too.

I don't get what I'm not getting, whatever it is that is to get...

Now, getting -it- - sure I get it, most people do get it, but only of the other person getting it is it.

If it isn't it, it's not getting any of it. And by default, I won't get it until the it with whom I'm getting gets it. Then we'll both get it.

but if it's not the it I'm not getting, I neet to get what it is, so I can get if I get it or not.

Get it?

I better git...
This year I am looking forward to the naked stroll ... I have a couple huge scars now and need to let them out. It ain't pretty but hot damn it'll be beautiful.

And maybe there's playa naked in my future too.
Beautiful indeed!! You've inspired me to take my fresh (bc) incision out for a walk. Naked, decorated, it's all complete.

Many Questions on Being Naked

Post by EricMagic » Tue Aug 23, 2005 4:27 pm

Is it wrong to be naked? Who is it wrong for, the person who is naked, or the person who might have to look at a naked person? So many questions about being naked. Perhaps, some people just don't have clean clothes and some other people just getting fed up with all the clothes maintance.

If about 75% of the whole camp agrees not to laugh, or stare, or jump on you, would you get naked?

When everyone one is naked, how can you tell who is rich and who is poor?

Do blind people care if they are amongst naked people?

Maybe some persons just want to get more attention by being naked, but that is not so bad cause they can usually not hide weapons, or hide long legal documents to pressure you to sign. In fact, it should be a requirement or law that all politicians should be naked just help make them more honest, and humble; and if the people demand the new naked standard, the people should get it, since it should be goverment by the people for the people.

Is there a list of all the naked events this year at Burning Man?
