I'm good. Worrying that the windmills won't get done, but some new blood seems to have emerged recently, so that's a good thing. I think I'll be making up the camp shower/greywater recycling area. Read something interesting in the JRS today about filtering greywater and then using it to water the road. May try that.

What do they mean by disinfecting the water?

It doesn't say how to do that.
I'd be very interested in that.

Sorry I'm back, was just looking around,...

It was a great afternoon to have off, not that I did much with it other than enjoy it.

So M Is your Mother selling her house, or what's all the clean up for?

Yeah, I would think some standard household bleach would do the trick, the question is how much and how long to let it stand. I'll research some more.

Bleach is cheap enough. I'd be interested in any info you find Sput. Probably a lot of people would be interested, too.
I can't believe that they are saying you can spray it out on the streets.

The epa says to use bleach and/or iodine to make water drinkable. I would have no intention to make it drinkable, just safe to splash on the streets. With 4 to 6% chlorine you just need a couple of drops per quart. Seems to me a full gallon would be enough to disinfect water for the whole camp.

You just have to remember to filter it good enough, too.

Do you think that if more people knew about this that the grey water issue would not be so great?

I've got to wonder about soaps that are in the water though. These chemicals must be present even after filtering.

That's a good question.
Does the EPA say anything about soap residues?

I think a sieve or pantyhose wouldn't filter it down enough. Maybe coffee filters?

It did always seem a little odd to me how the water policy was seemingly set in stone and then they spray pond water everywhere.

No, the epa site mainly talks about what to do to make well water and such safe to drink. They mentioned paint filters in the JRS, so I'm going to look into that. I suppose they might trap the soaps. Or maybe we don't care?

OK, I gotta head to bed.

Well, it's been sitting, un-potentialized for years! Do you like my made up word? (haha!)

Goodnight, Sputnik.

Paint filters are basically paper cones with a screen mesh at the bottom they'd only be good at taking out chunks of egg and clumps of hair,...... ok I grossed myself out thinking about them together.

I have bins of stuff down in the basement that's been there so long that when I open them up it's like Christmas! I have to go through and re-sort the bins.

Dang! Freakin' mice in the ceiling again!
