How do I attach Ratchet straps to 3/4 EMT ?

Greetings out there in eplaya land,

This will be my first year at BM and I wanted to get some advice from the experts out there. I am making a 20x20 shade structre with top and side shade coverings.

I have 8, 3/4 10FT EMT poles that are going to be put on rebar to stand them up straight and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on attaching the ratchet straps I bought to anchor them down? They have built in soft tie lies or you can use the hooks.

That wont work, Im not using any connectors these are just striaght steel EMT poles. Ive already seen that URL as I have searched the board quite extensively before I posted my question to the community.

Luckilly my ratchet straps came with soft ties. They were $15 at BJ's + 15% for non member price. Still cheaper than Lowes or Home Borg

OOps. How about just screw-eyes + butterfly bolts (as seen in S3's pics)?

I'm completely confused. Attaching the straps to the emt? And they have soft ties and hooks built in?

Sounds like you need to clamp something to a pipe. Either attach something to the pipe clamp after it's been deployed or clamp the tie line to the pipe.[/b]

Drilled-thru eyebolts as mentioned, hang the hook over a hose clamp & duct-tape it, or jam a short section of whittled-down broomstick, branch, or dowel into the top of the pole w/epoxy and screw a bolt or eyebolt into that.

Went to Home Depot in the hardware section found 3/4th U shape pipe clams for 75 cents a whack. Got the last of my rebar (needed another 20 feet) and wood to build evaporation pond.

So alls I need is my aluminet top shade to come and I will be all set to load the burning man truck here in boston! Wahooo!
