i'd love to have cd decks... but I don't

it's getting down to the wire. If I don't figure otu an actual solution b4 heading up I might ditch the plan (although I don't want to)

Find someone with an RV and store them inside it.

In years past I've been vastly amused as my judgmental campmates go from "Yuck, you're in an RV? That's not really Burningman!" to, "Can I please store my records in your RV so that they won't be ruined?"

Last year I bought cheap CDJ (had one already) - made my life on a playa much easier :)

Records and the heat 101.

I come to you with experience in heat and vinyl. I grew up in Tucson AZ and have been spinning now for 10 years. I have only lost two records in that time to heat from taking them out to play. There are several ways to avoid melted/warped vinyl.

1. Use a hard case and leave the soft pack at home.

Pack the hard case until it is almost splitting open. Store this case out of the sun and anytime you go to open it make sure it has been in a cool area for at least a few hours. Soft bags leave to much room as does an unfilled hard case. It leaves room for the heat to shape your records to its needs.

2. Find a cooled RV or camp to store your records in. Much more difficult but functional.

3. Load a cooler with Ice pack (Not bag ice) and drop your record bag or crate in.

I personally use number 1. I store my records always in the shade and only open them if they are very cooled down. If they heat up enough to warp they will not be able to due to space and when they cool down they are fine. YMMV
