Couple seeks a really quiet camp area
Couple seeks a really quiet camp area
My wife and I went to BM 2003, now we return. Can't wait! I'd like to find a camp area that is far from generators and loud music. Other than that, we're open and adaptable. If your area is quiet and peaceful, or you know of one that is, please let us know. See you in a few weeks, I'll be the guy wearing the Coat Of Many Keys.
The most quiet place I have heard of is the walk-in camping area but it is waaaay out in the boonies. Hushville is a village whose rules are: no generators, no amped music and LNT. You must register with Hushville to camp there but there are no costs involved (see camp tax thread). This is not to say that it is totally quiet there; sound carries and I still use earplugs.
I like playing with fire.

My wife and I stay in the Alternative Energy Zone www.ae-zone.org . it is right next to Hushville, There are no gas generators allowed, we are the largest theme camp at the event, there are no camp fees, your camp is lined out for you before you arrive. We are close to the action but not on top of it, 5:30 and catharsis this year. Help is always appreciated but never required, we are all very easy going and I know we still have room. Asked to be placed in the center ring to be most secluded from the noise. Go to the website and check it out, e-mail our mayor Jolly Roger, and subscribe to the mailing list and say hello. We are all types from nerdy engineer types to wild party types. We have pot lucks and camp events which you are invited to but not shunned if you don’t attend. We have camped with them all 3 years we have gone, they are like family, and we would not consider camping anywhere else. And let me know if you decide to stay with us, we like to know who our neighbors are.
E Tu Brute?
Shoot! I was gonna be a jack ass again and say "uh why don't cha camp at Pyramid Lake, I here that's real quiet". But I just can't bring myself to do it. I can't be Bitterman ALL the time ya know.
Yeah yeah, third that, walk-in camping is the quietest place on the playa during Burning Man Event. But you'll still here "thumpa thumpa thumpa", but not as loud. And hopefully that TERRIBLE 4:30 am sKaraoke singer won't come around singing "Pour some sugar on me".
SHADDUPP!!!

check out Lake Lahontan Yacht Club
Of course, we won't know what our neighbors will be doing til we get there, but Lake Lahontan Yacht Club is a really laid back camp and we have room for a few more. Check out the web site http://www.lakelahontan.org and email me at curtmcATbusting-looseDOTnet .

Wherever you stay, don't forget the earplugs, eye patch and sleeping pills (optional). Don't drink anything for a least an hour before turning in, (so you don’t wake up to go pee) limit your alcohol and load up on the salt. Try and go to sleep at about the same time each night/day. Be sure that you're getting a lot of physical exercise, so your tiredness will outweigh the other stimuli. Bring your own pillow and build your nest to be as comfortable as possible. Try a mid-day nap when the Playa is at it’s quietest. Have a practice night in the backyard. Sweet dreams! No grumpy Gus!
