P.O.D. UPDATE!

Still no word from the MAKE magazine guys....for now, screw 'em. We'll have our fun regardless.

Because of the variability of locational dynamics, AKA "chance", I guess getting together a guide to the locations of the P.O.D. stops BEFORE hitting the playa is impractical....So those of you that WILL know where you'll be in some detail can still feel free to let me know here- Otherwise, to register for the Parade and mark your structure's location, stop by Hushville for your sign and to mark yourself on the P.O.D. Command Map. Probably best to do so by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning EARLY, since we're in the WWW guide for a 10AM start.
If I REALLY have my shit together out there, we'll have ballots for the awards in categories to-be-determined. (Ranger Genius posted some good ideas, which I will probably appropriate with gratitude!) The awards'll probably be figured out by Thursday, depending on whether we tack another day's tour on or not....Winners to be posted at the Command Map and notified "when I get around to it".

As posted and reposted earlier, the Parade Of Domes HQ will be the Snowman, a three-tiered 2V, in Hushville....Look for me on the central circle-road at Hushville's center. The entrance road to HV will probably be at 4:30 and Ego, and I'll put some kind of signage up ASAP. Come see me when you get a spot...If all goes as planned, I should have MOST of the Snowman up. Otherwise, look for a silver Element....

What a great concept! I'm with Citrus Camp and we have interconnected 24' and 16' domes. AND we're also in the same area, 4:30 and Fetish. We should join the tour. See ya soon!

WEIRD....I just must be underestimating the number of domes throughout the city- But it sure as hell seems like we're all in the same place! Welcome, and I'll look forward to seeing you at P.O.D.!

http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/Fi ... ist_05.htm

This list has Hushville placed at 5:30 and Ego, but if you look at the new map, there's ony one theme camp at those corners, and that's Kidsville. There's five other camps placed at 4:30 and Ego: Big Puffy Yellow, Zerbo, Geisha House, Tikidom and Astral Headwash.

This could be fun. Or is it thematic and "they" are just messing with our heads?

It has been CONFIRMED that the list is WRONG. Hushville is at 4:30 and Ego, NOT 5:30 and Ego. His Quietness the Lord Mayor of Hushville has so proclaimed it thusly.

Uh, do we know the source of His fact that it's wrong? I've been hearing the same thing, but who can tell which is fact and which is fiction?

He came down from Mount Harvey with the TRUE location of Hushville inscribed on a rubber chicken with a Sharpie marker.

Okay, this is one more shout out to all proud domemakers of Black Rock City....If you wish to participate in an appreciation of the Fullerian lifestyle then come meet your brethren (and cistern! Heh.) at the Parade Of Domes 2005, to kick off at the Snowman (three-level dome) in Hushville....Wednesday at ten AM, on the Towne Rounde circle street in central Hushville, entrance on Ego by 4:30.
If you wish to show YOUR structure, come by and see me or drop me a note prior to the event and I'll lay a P.O.D. sign on you and mark your location for the tour.
Y'all come!

Okay, domies.....THIS IS IT. Magic time. I'm rolling tomorrow morning, and hope to be wrestling with struts by Sunday morning. The Parade Of Domes will be relatively casual, as I STILL haven't had time to make signs, awards, etc.- But there's Plenty Of Time to do that crap in BRC. Our agenda is as follows: Wander around and look at stuff.
I'll trek around and waypoint the architectural highpoints on my GPS by Tuesday sometime. See you at the junction of the Hushville Main Road (by 4:30 and Ego) and the Central Ring Road in HV's middle- 10 AM we'll start drinking, uh, I mean, touring.

Drive safe- See you soon!

We're hosting happy hours on Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30 and Guess, in our 22 foot 3v, with fitted shadecover and swamp cooler! Plus, our car is a small, 3v, on a datsun station wagon. We're a dome camp!

I'll confess....I kinda wanted to do the Parade OF Domes thang again, but hadn't put any effort into organizing it. And I'm not bringing a "traditional" dome this year- I'm bringing a collection of cardboard tubes and zipstrips, some tubes premade into triangular modules for easier constuction. At week's end, I tear off the plastic bits and burn the rest at the nearest public platform. I haven't thought any further than Basic Triangles for how this buncha junk's gonna look or behave, but if you wish to view the results (or ruins) they'll be located on the Town Round at the center of Hushville. Chance and 8:30.
So? Is there other interest in doing the P.O.D. this year? I know I'll be an architectural tourist with or without company, but company's always nice.

Well, if it's happening again this year, please include the Oasis Dome at Esplanade & 8:30. We promise to have it finished in time this year.
