Geek Fashion Show

Post by phil » Wed Aug 17, 2005 6:59 pm

Louise and I are hosting a geek fashion show at 2:00 pm'ish from Wednesday through Saturday at our camp. We are _scheduled_ to be at 4:30 near Ego, so stroll 4:30 in that vicinity looking for our lovely logo:

on a banner on 4:30. We'll also have a sign of some sort for the fashion show.

If you have no fashion, come and get it. Louise is giving away carefully crafted playa wear.

The wonderful people at AEZ have created a map of all camps at
http://www.ae-zone.org/dokuwiki/media/brc-05c.pdf
(NOTE: it's a .pdf file) which shows the location of Hushville between AEZ and Gigsville (shudder).

Also see

for Dongray's camps by location. You may sort the information by camp name or by location. (NOTE: some are based on prior erroneous info from BMOrg, so just be aware some playa adjustment may be necessary.)

phil, I have an honest-to-gosh pair of wearable wooden shoes to donate.

And if you find the fashion show, you're likely to stumble across my Home for Wayward Art, do drop by and adopt a piece of art to take away with you. Remember, this is Bad, Bad Art, that's why it is in a Home.

Ah...finally a map drawn the right way, with North pointing up and a scale!
It's going to be alright.

Oooh, OOooh, I have a spirograph shirt--is that geeky enough for a donation?

Yeah, those guys really get my admiration. Drop by their site and look at their other maps and lists of preparations and such.

My word! That's probably worth something on eBay. Yes, it's certainly a prize item for geek fashionistas.

re: camp listings - I mashed it all into a spreadsheet and posted it on another thread.

http://tinyurl.com/dzakd
Caveats: The 2 lists only match up about 90% - lots of camps on the description list that don't match up on the placement side. Also, sometimes the name is different on each side, for instance extra spaces, and that breaks it.
Getting the descriptions into a single cell was kinda funky. No guarantees that I got it all or anything. (hell, no guarantees at all!)
Two pages - one called "locations" which is just the same as yesterdays. One "locations and descriptions" that has everything
I assume you know how to do formatting etc to see what you want. For instance, to see the boxes expand to show all the text, do format/cells/alignment and check the box "wrap text"
I stripped out all the logic, hoping that would make it smaller. It's still almost 400k. Feel free to contact me if you want to see the logic.

I did some spot checking, things seem to match up pretty well, but like I said, no guarantees.
