Good call, Sputnik! Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Better let me eat something first, though. I'll be back.

Porter sounds good, thanks!

So, find anything else you need to send ahead?
I looked for about 2 hours for my danr plastic tarp clamps and didn't find them. I did get the basement straightened up more though. I now think they grew legs and went up to my sister's house. That's what I'm hoping anyways. I had to buy more last night because I couldn't find them. Now it's going to bug me until they're found.

Did you get bad weather out your way today? It missed us, but it was nicely cool and cloudy all day.

Frantic and loving it!

I haven't worked this hard for something in a long time and it feels great. I went through a rest period and this weekend will be the big shopping/packing run. Haven't burned since I got home so gotta work that in sometime.

How are YOU doing?

I'm frantic as well! I'm mostly worried about the dang dome cover. Though it was really fine with the tarps wrapped on it, that's what I might end up using because I know they will work.
I got all the pieces cut out for the cover out of the one billboard vinyl. Just need to figure out how many to sew together without making it difficult to put on the frame. Then if I shoule use snaps or velcro. I wonder if the velcro will hold?

One more beer then off to bed for me!

Sorry, got busy for a minute.

Beer 2 for M.

I think that industrial strength velcro could work. Depends on the direction of pull I suppose.

RobbiDobbs peaks in, looks around. Walks over to the burn barrel, shoves some cardboard and kindling in and lights it up.

I officially have one more week, hamster.

She then skips behind the bar, grabs 2 Wheat beers, ambient temperature of course, and then sits on the Dusty Couch to read a book.

This is RobbiDobbs procrastinating and not doing her homework, hamster.

Blissfully insane.

Let's see, tonight before I get off work i will have my "need to have" shopping list completed. This weekend my father (big camping buff he is) has told me we are going shopping for camp supplies. YAY! That'll save me a bundle.. lol. Then I have all next week to finish up some gifts and work out a costume or two... Leave right after work on Friday morning for Colorado to hook up with my camp, leave Saturday AM for BRC. Do or die!

I'm so excited I think I might esplode.

Hi!

Well, I've started my sewing projects. Things appear to be going well. Don't know for sure yet though.

I'm thinking I should get one done tonight.

I'm working on a simple knit cotton A-line skirt.

A sundress with the fabric in my avatar and also a sarong if there's enough fabric after the sundress. I bought six yards, so it should be more than enough for both.

Oh, and if I have time I might modify this dress I have and add some fabric to lengthen it.

I'm working on my script, Blue's sewing, and 666 is painting gloves. Beyond that, we're drinking either beer or sangria.

What'l you have?

Ahhh!

Robbi, you wouldn't happen to know anything about sewing elastic waistbands would you?

Yes quite a bit.
create a pocket by folding over the top of the waist just wider than the width of the elastic (not too snug). roll under the edge 1/4". This will create a finished edge, esp important given the friction in this area. Sew it all the way around except for 2" openning. Run a length of elastic thru the pocket. Safety pin one end to the opening, and attach another safety pin to the other side. This will give you something to hold onto while it is being scooched thru the pocket. Once all the way around, cinch it a bit, try on the pants inside out, pull the elastic to comfort level, and pin in place. Pin each side of the elastic ends together and triple sew them on the machine. Then cut the excess elastic. Sew closed the opening.

Another effective way to create a pocket is by sewing bias tape around the waistband. Very effective if you don't have foldover slack.

Oh, thanks. But I guess I should have been more specific in my question.

I'm wondering what length I should cut the elastic. From internet searches it seems somewhere around four inches less than my measurement.

What do you go by?

I cut it about 4" more than my measurement, then cut off a lot. Too much is always better than not enough.

Oh wait, you may have already answered that for me.

*smooches*

Maybe I should take a break and have a drink.
