Hey there, I am a freequent participant in a weekly event in New York called "share". http://www.share.dj
Basically its an open event where (mostly computer based but some acoustic with pickups) audio and video artists get together in a space and have a jam session for the evening. Its always really interesting (For the participants at least) because you get to hear how your ideas sound juxtaposed with elements you would never think to introduce. In New York the event has been going on for years and is pretty highly evolved at this point, there are anywhere from 2-15 artists simultaneously providing comunicating on an extremely artistic level in trying to create something beatiful and temporal for a space (not to mention and streaming out on the web). I was thinking about getting a portable sound system to do it myself out on the playa somewhere sometime... but if theres a stage (or large structure with a soundsystem) open for a few hours sometime, I think this would be a great way to use it.
I guess I'll have to see if there are a few artists out there interesting in taking part, and then if theres a camp willing to host us. Anyway artistas let me know if you want to do something like this, and camps let me know if you want to host it.
thanks

SHARE: Its going to happen!!!
Okay any of you who are foolish enough to bring your equipment out to the playa this year, should bring it over, plug it into our matrix and make a multimedia happening with us.
Camp 101 (7:30 & Bipolar) is interested in hosting this event on Sunday Afternoon/Evening. If your interested in joining us to throw down an multiperson multimedia set on thier soundstage. Show Up.
A few musicians have already expressed an interest in playing, if any of you can come with mixers you will help us enable more people to play along. Ideally I would love to have a rotating cast of 7-15 performers playing laptops, cellos, bass guitars, and finely tuned elephants. BAsically anything that has a quarter inch out. In keeping with the theme of Camp 101 we'd like to keep the set Ambiant in nature, but that will have different meanings for all of us no doubt.
Also, video artists, if one or eight of you want to come and bring your projector and are willing to share Im sure we can work out a way to have simultaneous video art from a rotating cast of video artists completing the multimedia jam. Please get in touch, so we can set this up.
thanks
