East Bay Burner Hangouts?

Post by obsidity » Wed Sep 03, 2003 7:59 pm

I am feeling the chill and I need more burners around me, and here I am in the East Bay. I know ya'll are around here. Is there maybe a bar or cafe that people might converge regularly to tell stories, have a drink, make plans or just bask in each others dusty minded presences? Maybe others don't feel this need as much as I do, but I hate being alone in my room right now. My fantasy would be a place with big couches where we can all pile on or curl up and nap!
That is what I really want....

Hang out in the East Bay

Post by Kitty Cat » Thu Sep 04, 2003 12:41 pm

I am so with you on this one! I took the week off and I just want to be back at burning man. I'm down for stories and maybe I house would be the place to meet, that or the monkey tea house in Piedmont. Has anyone else replied. I was thinking of posting on Craigslist to get a group together but the lack of Burn notes on it kinda deterred me....

Oh well, reality it is, I'm just trying to push it away as much as possible.

I would for sure be into something like this! We could create our own little mini-regional get togethers on a regular basis. I am currently on the Peninsula, but my SO is in Oakland and we are planning on finding a place together in Berkeley within the next couple of months. You kids going to the SF decom?

how about an Albany beach barbeque?

Post by redhot » Sun Sep 07, 2003 11:05 pm

Anybody know if there's much patrols there? The place seems like it'd be great for a beach barbecue, plus there's all the art already there. With all the great weather we should be getting soon seems like a great venue for a pre-decompression party!

I'm thinking possibly next Saturday.....thoughts anybody?

yesterday there was a sunset renegade by urban wasteland. It was just what I needed. If there is anything more like that I will post it. I didn't know how burnery they were but I came up to this one girl and she saw my love deputy pin I was given on the way home and she was like "love rangers rule!" So I knew I was with my people!
I was talking to a friend about my need for a place to go right afterwards and he concurred. So we started an idea for a "Decompression Chamber". Maybe some space that is available esp after we return that we could just come in and reground, dance, talk, sleep and have an overall feeling continuity of connection after leaving the playa. As it is I am just surruptiously checking out the dust remnants on people shoes as I ride BART.

Burner Hangouts

Post by Kitty Cat » Fri Sep 12, 2003 2:59 pm

It's actually not called the Monkey Tea house, but there is a monkey on the sign and that's what I always remember. Would a weeknight be cool after work. Like Tues at 7pm? I'd save couches, there a bunch in front to help facilitate window side people watching! I just want to keep the stories and fun rolling for as long as possible.

Whaddya guys think?

As you all know, Burning Man no longer sponsors a beach burn
on the last Saturday evening of the month on Ocean Beach out
from Stairwell 28 at the south end of the parking lot where
The Great Highway interescts Lincoln Ave at the southwest
corner of Golden Gate Park. The GGNRA closes the parking lot
at 10pm. Sunset is at 6:59 so be there by then if you wish
to howl at the setting sun. Otherwise bring your fire toys,
a bit of wood, appropriately warm clothing, your playa spirit
