The music and me!
Hello, all! This'll be my fifth year, and my first living outside of the Lamplighter Village. This time I'll be found at The Deep End (look for the big military tent), or out on our mutant vehicle, the PlayaG'Round - look for a REALLY BIG swingset driving around, then hop on! I'm from Utah and Florida, or wherever I happen to be working (Indiana at the moment), so Black Rock City is more of a permanent home than most I have!
I got really frustrated by the fact that I couldn't be in god-knows-how-many-camps at once, and missed some amazing music, so I started up a website (always a work in progress), http://www.playatunes.eom to capture some of the music that goes drifting across the playa. As you pack up and head out or shake the playa off when you get back, check it out to get some playa-appropriate background music going!
While I'm on the subject, if you are a part of any camp or art installation that produces music of any kind, I'd love to include it on PlayaTunes. If you don't have recording capability, I have a limited number of minidisc recorders to lend out. (These are NOT my gifts!) If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please get in touch - either pm me or email me at [email protected].
See you soon!

hey julia or ibdave which ever you preffer about your bike your best bet would be to buy a cheap bike from a garage sale or a thrift store and put about $30 getting it road worthy and releave yourself of the stress of losing or breaking your bike. but you really don't want to walk that will suck. you may want to buy two cheap bikes so you have a back up, but that is if you are really concerned. and don't forget to buy a head light whether you walk or ride that is really important.
Hi Everyone
My name is Steve and I am so happy to be heading back to tha playa after a 5 year absence.
I am a veteran burner from the old days. My first trip was in the year 1996 (the darkest of them all) and I continued the experience through 2000 (the coldest year).
I am interested to see if the energy is still the same.

Miracle Playa Love Child
Hi burning brothers and sisters! I'm Kiki, from Hollywood. Went to the playa in 2004, found my soul mate playa boi Thaddeus, came home and created miracle playa baby Blaze, and am now rocking and nursing 24/7. (In a rocking chair with a babe in arms that is.) So...we will be sitting out this year thinking of all of you and sending our blessings for miracles of your own (true love, good music, flames, dancing, whatever it is you seek). I wasn't seeking anything, just knew that I had to go and that it would be life altering. Little did I know what the universe would bestow! So welcome Blaze, born 7/12/05 (you do the math), a beautiful little girl, looks just like her wild daddy, who now serenades us with music to feed by. Until next year lovies! - Kiki

Oh god, here I go...
I'm 18m. I've lived very carefully and I need to embrace the inner hippie. obviously I'll have to wait for 2006, But I would really like to go. I live in the suburbs in Georgia, and I've been carefull and predictable and boring thus far. That must change. My parents wouldnt approve, but I can pay. I'm in my first year of college and am still very introverted. My family wouldnt be cool with this so I need someone to help me, Anyone, anything; Advice and/or a ride. Must... be... unpredictable! If anyone can show me which of the many, many places I should go on the web to find a ride and some help, and/or can talk and answer questions patiently over either email or IM, I would be eternally gratefull. Jaberwocky!
I'm a noob, a prude and socially rude. Those all need to change.

Hi everyone, I'm Amy and I've never been to BM but I really want too. My guy has gone the last three years and refuses to let me go  Next year I'll find my own way. He did send me all the way across the country though (Virginia Beach) and probably never expected that I would find a way to reach you guys after all.

What can I say, but "wow"? After Burning Man has been calling my name for years now I have finally convinced myself to go. Whats more I have convinced the love of my life to join me. Yay! The 2006 burn will be our first. I look forward to meeting all of you lovelies then.
About me? I am a former goth grrl, currently pagan priestess, lover of all things fairie, and secondary english education student, based in Atlanta. I am also almost 30, engaged to be married, and will be graduating in 2007. As I will be a teacher this may be my only Burn for quite a while. Hmphh!

My name is Dave, and I live in Golden, CO., though I originally hail from central Indiana. Musician, photographer, former "airpersonality", music producer and engineer, now A/V technician. Married 3 years, hopefully first baby by June. 42 y.o. Three cats.
First burn was '04, ticket a birthday gift from some very wonderful, loving friends here in the Denver area. I had heard of BM on a couple of occasions in years prior (I think I remember an article in WIRED), but my inner dull person was too dismissive, and too unadventurous.
We took an art car--hell of a way to do my first burn, eh?--and I inadvertantly became sort of a senior engineer on the project. Great time, despite the events leading up to it (in which I and one of the team narrowly escaped death in a test drive crash).
Had to miss this year due to some trappings of the default world. Wife vows I will not miss it again, and wants to make sure I get to go, every year (most likely because of the change she saw in me for a couple of months after I got back). Discovered, quite luckily about 15 minutes before the burn, that there was a webcast this year. So, while I didn't really miss out , I made myself extremely bummed that I was not there, especially when I logged on the next morning and saw the sunrise over center camp, heard the whack-ass radio b-cast, and realized that my wonderful gang was there, and I was not. I realized that this detachment from defalut is now, likely, a yearly necessity for me, so I gotta make it big, and worthy, and full, every year.
Always knew I didn't quite belong in the default world, just never knew to call it that, never knew the alternative.
Already researching my path and needs for '06.

Whadduuuup Freakos! a.k.a. "My normal peeps"
Im RedHeaven, you can call me Red. I reside somewher in the foothills between Chico and Lake Tahoe. (gold country) 2005 was my first burn...goddammit...been hearing and feeling stories for 11 freakin years now from the neighborhood. I knew if I waited for the ripe opportunity, BM would be part of my life. I couldnt of asked anything more from my first burn. FOR LYFE!
Im a 33 year old community radio broadcaster on KVMR FM in NEvada City. I do a weekly psychedelic radio show filled with new music.
So yeah im a music geek, spent the last 6 eyars at High Sierra Music Fest and a couple of Hornins Hideouts in Oregon. I had a little fest layer before attending my first burn.
I have to say, the music out there in the desert surpassed my expectations. Everything blended together, BM took me way out of my music box (yes there is music up there) and I heard that 2005 was a nice diverse year for music on the playa. I heard jazz, some sweet electronica, some horrible electronicsa, saw the MErmen, Hamsa Lila, Alma Melodiosa, Michael Franti, and countless other awesome performances. I also enjoyed the shite ouuta the oud systems, stuff like Sinead Oconnor, Widespread Panic, some great punk rock and goth, Depeche Mode, Oh Brother Where art thou? And so much fun stuff that sticks in my head. and that was on ly the music...which im sensitive to.
Its great to feel this community and I hope to frequent this board and say HI often. It goes without saying, but iim already planning for next year. I really dug all the different scenes to explore up there and all the commodities of teh sensual world. The good the bad and the ugly.

My name is Sheyenne Cimarron Stillinger. I'm a 23 YO man. I currently live in a little shithole truck-stop of a town I refer to as Pooh-buttassville, known in the real world as Alturas CA. It's at the junction of 299 and 395. I get paid by the state to take care of my younger adopted sister Rosie. She came to stay with us when she was 20 mos. the doctors said that she wouldn't live out the rest of the month. She's 14 now. She has F.A.S.,torrettes,mild autism, reactive attachment disorder, and has been diagnosed with type 2 shizephrenia, and bipolar disorder. She is also hyperflexive, has a growth hormone deficiency, and a rare disorder known as Pica syndrome that causes folks to want to eat inedible things, plastic, paper, rubber, soap, glass, ect. She is the reason I'm here. My goal is to get her off of the psycotropic medications that these quacks have her on, and despite how much I absolutely loathe this town, I'm not leaving until I'm satisfied that her brain is healing instead of degenerating further, which it curruntly is.
This year when I got out to the playa that first night, my buddy Shaggy from Tahoe asked me what I was doing these days. I burst into tears and couldn't stop crying for a long time.
Burningman is a lot like the ideal future that I invision in my mind. Open love and caring for others, given freely, almost absolute tolerance, shown in a very real way, an educated free thinking populace, willing to work for themselves and everyone else and fun fun fun. It is the closest thing to heaven that I've ever experienced, and in my mind heaven is just like BRC, ecxept infinite and 3D (when viewed from above the playa looks 2D). Folks flying around in space as balls of light instead of cruisin' or walkin', and lasts forever instead of a week.
To any burners that read this, please contact me. I'm lonely out here in the stix and have a very, very, hard duty. A word from any of you would make this year a lot easier on me.
Love, peace, and hippy grease,
Shy

Howdy.
I'm Gaby, this year was my first out there in BRC. I had a great time, met wonderful people, and I have a pretty good feeling I'll be back.
I spent most of my time at my camp, Trashistan (part of NAIR, at 4:45 between Esplanade and Amnesia), and at the Fandango bar (7:00 and Catharsis).
Nice to meet you all -- glad this message board exists.

Kristin from NYC - looking 4 east coasters & roller coas
Hello, Kristin here. A newly cracked EGG with my first BM under my belt just last week. Life changing. Let me know how you think I can best stay involved - I am open to suggestion and have found a few NYC burners I plan to throw fundraisers with. Suggestions on best possible way to "adopt an art project"?

Hi my name is Luna Elfling, this is my first year as a burner....well second but the 1st time doesn't count as I don't remember (we started partying 2 days before we left). That was 10 years ago. I'm a grown elf now. This time I didnt get obliviated (well not till midweek) and that was only for a minute and only cause I made the mistake (or not) of letting myself be talked into visiting the "Moonshine" camp. Cheers to them!
Anyway I'm with Camp Hookahdome, my friend Minah led me here cause she read that some beautiful Shy soul was looking for me. I love Minah. She's wonderful. I love Hookahdome too... I hope ya'll will come and visit us next year. Ask for Luna.... maybe I'll be around (I got lost playin in the playa... dint come back for 3 days). Hey! I had things to do!
