Ian @ Puddle Camp....??

Post by girleone » Mon Sep 05, 2005 12:55 pm

I just want to say to Ian, or anyone who may know him, THANK YOU so much.

This was my first burn, and I worked for 2 months on an art project/bike. Much time, love and care was put into this. After what seemed like an innumerable amount of bad things that happened to me on the way to Burning Man and during the first few days, my bike/art project was then stolen.

I was completely devestated. My ideas of the quality of people, sharing and community I had heard about at Burning Man were hit pretty hard. I put up flyers about my missing project, as well as talked to neighbors, but had no luck. I walked the playa as far as i could by foot, only to come back very tired, sunburned and empty handed.

This happened a day before the Critical Tits ride, and because I had no bike, i could only watch as all the beautiful women rode by. I couldn't help but cry at how awesome they all looked....and longed to be one of them.

By Saturday I had pretty much decided that this would be my first, last and only burn. I was mentally and emotionally exhausted and fell asleep at my camp. I was then awaken by cheers from my campmates when a fellow by the name of Ian walked up with my bike. I was so overwhelmed with joy that i just ran up to this stranger and hugged him for what seemed like forever, and cried and cried. My faith had been restored.

As quickly as he arrived, Ian left. I don't know his last name, or where he was from, or anything else about him. I believe he said he was camped at 4.30 and BiPolar, but could not find him there later that night to thank him again.

At dusk on my last day at BM, i rode my bike into the sunset and felt like a completey restored woman. BM is definitely a place that tests you and teaches you. And it reminded me that the playa DOES provide.

To any other virgin burners who may have had a rough go of it or may not be considering going back, please reconsider. I will be back on the playa next year, with even more to look forward to.

And to Ian, wherever you are.....you are truly an angel sent from above. I thank you from the depth of my heart for completely making my day, and my week.
