BM 2005 - time to Decompress..

Post by kidblonde » Mon Sep 05, 2005 9:28 pm

Just got back home a few hours ago from my first BM experience!!
Words fall short to describe my experience there
It's been a journey through all my senses, and have already started to decompress as I type this.
Feeling quite euphoric (spiritually) and disattached from alot of things
as I return back to some form of normalcy.
Decompression was one thing I was concerned about as I wasn't certain what state my mind would be in upon returning.
A bit of a challenge for me after being informed about what's been happening in the US this past week. Even though I left to discover a new place/home (BM) I returned back to my "own" environment
to see how people have changed/been effected by the recent US state
of affairs.

Please feel free to exchange thoughts with me on your experience(s)
this year. ...
Would love to get feedback on how to handle "BM Decompression".

It was my first year at burning man too. I am going to take away the things I learned about myself and about others at this years Burn and I'm going to spread the love for the next 51 weeks until the next Burning Man. So in other words, I'm not de-compressing, I'm going to try to make the whole year one long burning man. :)

Decom seems to have been really weird for me. The shock of coming home to find what happened with hurricane Katrina as well as gas prices,
made me upset. Certain expectations for BM didn't happen. I went alone
yet made many friends! It was so great to be in a Burners world that is not dominated by the "It's All About The Money!!!" attitudes we see out in
the default world! A friend of mine (A Non-Burner) and me went biking down by the Truckee River here in Reno, and I saw a girl wearing huge purple platform shoes. I just knew she had to be a burner, I went up and said "Hey!! I Know You!! (I didn't see her ever before) We hugged and swapped stories. My friend said
"Do you know her?" Replied I, "Of Course!! Shes A Burner!!" He was blown away at how I could have a connection with someone just because they were Burners. I told him "GO NEXT YEAR AND FIND OUT WHY!!"

Genuinely,
