bad choice by tribal police?

Post by dj big E » Thu Sep 08, 2005 10:29 am

As we were driving home on monday there was a bad accident on the highway just after nixon involving a highway patrol and a burner this is a tewrrible thing .... My question opr comment is wy did law enforcement make the large amount of burners take a detour causing most burners an extra 2-3 hour drive basically it lead them to sherts i believe the name is which is allmost in reno. When there was an easier alternative. After waiting about a half an hour to figure out what would happen cars that were obviously from the burn started heading back saying that law enforcement told them to take the alternate route. Amongst these cars i kept noticing cars that obviously had not been to the burn. I flagged one down thanks cable guy and asked him were he was coming from and had he seen the accident. He informed me that he had been diverted to a side road that came out 100 feet south of were i was. So i informed the burners behind me about the buypass they chose not to follow. Anyways i found the road 100 ft down the line mind you i had an rv it was paved and dirt but was in great shape 5 minutes later i was back on the highway and in fernley in 15 minutes. My problem is that they could have diverted all of the traffic this way very easily this detour caused hours of travel extra resources and most of all probly caused some accidents due to fatigue. It seemed as thoe the tribal police who were directing traffic decided that the 20 -30 cars per hour headed north were more inportant than the 10,000 or so headed south . If they would have let the south bound traffic use the bypass they could have stopped it every 30 minutes or so for 10 minutes to allow the north bound traffic through. Not to mention the temporary businesses that were set up and had no customers. I am not positive how long the highway was closed for but the bypass was there and way more convenient. I hope all that were involved in the accident are ok. But paiute police could have done a better job with traffic. BIG E

1. Don't cross-post.

2. How does posting about it here help anything? If you have a suggestion for the police, send it to the police.

3. That said, I appreciate your concern. Fatigue is a big deal. I thought I was good-to-go for the drive out but a little after hitting 447 I had to have one of my campmates drive because I was fading and the last thing I wanted was a great year destroyed by an accident.

Actually both of you are way off, this is ePlaya Policy discussion... in other words - board policy.

This will get moved into another sub-topic.

I feel like it is something that the org should know about i would assume they have some sort of working relationship with the tribal police and may like to enquire. Personally for myself i could give a fuck I took the shorcut and was only inconvenienced a half an hour or so but there were thousands of others who were forced to take a detour when there was a shorter route. feel free to wine about cross posting I put it up in discussions then i noticed another discussion so i posted it theyre. Then i decided to put it in here so possibly the org would see it honestly i don't give a fuck what you think this post is meant to better something that i care about................... BIG E

An open letter to DJ Big E,

Dear DJ Big E,

Where is the Big E we have so known and loved? The postings sprinkled liberally with RMAOF, LMAO and assorted smilies seem to have vanished. You had elevated this digital form of communication to an art form. Lately all I see from you is well written and intelligent posts designed to help the community. What happened my friend?

Concerned about your well being,

Chai Guy

It's clear. He was unable to get the Foster's we'd brought him, and his mind was thus unaddled.

Sorry we missed you BigE!

Were you expecting gratitude for posting this in the only place that is kept clear for issues of board policy? Not with that tone.

Everyone has every right to be heard on issues of board policy, not just the most vocal, not just the most agressive. Its how and what this community determines to do. You may not realize it - but your posting (and more importantly your reaction to posting) pretty much fucks it up for everyone despite the importance of whatever issue has crawled up your ass. The org does not read as much of this as you are led to believe, there are much better and more direct communication routes to take.

Well, I don't know about the double posting--that must be the extra fancy grammer they teach in collage!

I don't want to say that the Tribal Police are incompetent--or even to imply it, so forget I said that--but it seems to me that they rarely have that magnitude of problem. That has to have been the biggest single traffic day of the year for them, and if they haven't had to make those real time decisions before it may take them a while to work out the kinks.

Just a thought.

The other thought here, is that while it might have been no big deal for you or a few others, re-routing 20,000+ vehicles down a side road may have been deemed potentially hazardous in it's own right for a variety of reasons.

(oh and bring back the RMAOF, LMAO, and smilies, please!)
