when did you discover you were a cacophonist??

Post by shitmouse » Thu Oct 02, 2003 2:07 pm

when did you first discover you were a cacophonist?

outside of attending a "santacon" or an official caco event, what have you done to prod society??

when i was young, i used to build giant penises out of snow. they would end up about 8 feet tall and a couple hundred pounds. one year we built one at my friend's house, and when we got home from school, we saw that the next door neighbor had jumped the fence into my friend's yard and trampled the icon down. he didn't seem to care much that his footprints tracked right over to his place.
so we built another one just for him in HIS yard.

-(we also 'exlaxed' the largest floorpan cake icing that was meant for the guinness world book of records in '82. students paid $3 a piece to eat all they could. it was funny and i know, sounds like a yahoo thing.......)
--(we pulled many stunts when we were kids, and later became participants in our local caco society).

what are your stories??

Back when Senator Jesse Helms was sucking the corporate ass of Phillip Morris (Kraft, Marlboro, Miller beer, etc.) for his re-election campaign contributions a group of people who I've never met formed a group who I've never heard of to pull a few 'actions' that I'm sure never happened.

The group didn't refer to itself as Jackson Pollock Nation. I can't prove that they did (or didn't) go out the day after Christmas and buy 86 dozen glass Christmas ornaments or that they spent the next few months filling and sealing each of them with oil base paints in a spectrum of colors or that they used these 'bon-bons' to carpet bomb every Phillip Morris related billboad in San Francisco for almost four months straight. I mean, I'm sure it could have happened but probably didn't. I'm also sure that no one ever sent taunting, anonymous faxes to the PM corporate headquarters with photos of the desecrated advertiements explaining why such things weren't taking place.

But, well, it could've happened - especially if someone hated Senator Helms and Phillip Morris as much as some of the people who I don't know hate them.

At one point I hated Jesse for several reasons, and I sent him a long e-mail telling him so. To my surprise he wrote back, not a form letter mind you but an honest to goodness typed out free-form letter addressing all of my points. I even made a comment about Katie, his granddaughter and how cute she was and he even commented on that. I know a lot of people disliked the man but that letter showed me a side to him that most people never see. I am glad that he is no longer in office, but I won't villify him like some people do. He did do a lot of good things for NC and for the country, and his support of the military, in particular the front line and support troops vs the brass helped temper some of my feelings towards him. He was a pain, but generally a good man especially in later years as time caught up to him.

He was and continues to be a vile, pitiable man. The fact that he's evidently seduced you with with some bullshit, handwritten letter doesn't detract from the fact that in the end he's just another knuckle-dragging, hate mongering racist posing as a righteous, queer-hating Christ-o-holic senior politician. Fuck him.

As I mention on my home page I'll return to my native North Carolina only after he's dead so that I might have the opportunity to shit on his grave.

I agree he was a queer hating christ-o-holic, and that's what I e-mailed him about back in a more militant time for me.

He is a SOB, there's no doubt but he did accomplish some good things for NC. And again his support of the military and his bullheaded approach made for some interesting moments from the hill.

Badger I do understand where your coming from though and if it wasn't for the fact that he actually helped me out of a jam, I'd likely feel the same. He helped pull strings when I couldn't get anyone to listen...and for that I am grateful to him. He did have a heart once in a while.

Catch me at a decompression or a regional party sometime and I'll tell you how he had the Federal Election Committee in Washington threaten a group of us wih a Grand Jury subpoena.

I discovered my bizarre tendancies in high school, when I came back to school after a long, legally forced absence. My buddies had made a giant 6 ft. paper mache joint with long flowing blonde hair, four black legs, giant bloodshot eyeballs, huge purple feet, and painted black toenails. I then duct taped it to the top of my Chevette along with various dollheads (remember Hugo Man of a Thousand Faces?). We would then drive around town. Not much, but this is in a town of 30k in the middle of the desert. Ever since then we would go around town doing strange things to mess with folks heads.

Jesse loves Grand Juries, there's no question about that. But he can also pull strings when you are summoned to the Hill to testify in front of a committee in the middle of an investigation. Short of making this statement here, maybe 30 people in the US even know I made the trip. He arranged for everything from transport to and from to putting protections in place to protect my privacy. I don't know the man as well as some, but I've actually met him face to face on numerous occasions and had to work through a very difficult issue with him. It takes all types to make the world go around and Badger, I understand your view and respect it, but I will keep my difference of opinion. There is a very caring man under the outside persona once you get the chance to break through it. He had a lot of people putting very, very, extremely intense pressure on him. Most men would have cracked under the pressure he was under.

I've already said too much but even with his queer bashing and christ-o-holic tendencies I still respect the man.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but have you ever been privy to the inner workings of a US Senate office? You letter was most likely typed by a 20 year old government major interning on the Hill, and then signed by the Senator's auto-pen signature machine. Senators have staff people whose entire job consists of responding to constituent letters.

I know how that works, I'm not naive on this. I've got his autopen signatures, and I've got the form letters. I've also dealt with him on a particular matter and I have hand written notes. I can tell the difference because of the work I did with him. It's hard to describe without scanning in a copy of the letter but you can tell by how the sentences are constructed and by knowing more about the man and his thought processes. I admit there's a chance I got fooled here. But having so much correspondance stacked up over here from him and other members of Congress, this set of letters stands alone.

yeah, that's what i want to hear. glad the spirit is still going!!
we have a few "can't tell um's too" that we might have to hook up for beers on. -(remember when a popular dj got a hold of a lot of pre-shipped religious propaganda tapes, and swapped them out with music? heh. they were shipped to store shelves across the nation).

two quickies on the "lighter side" we used to do:

--- frozen vomit disc: -(from our friend tyler at big brother skateboarding)
yak in a freezer bag, freez it, then go to your local giant mall -(maul) parking lot. look for giant SUV with cracked window opening on drivers side. slide frozen vomit disc through window opening. it lands on seat and unthaws. owner wonders who yakked in their locked car.

--- and of course, sending back junk mail in company provided return envelopes

EBN: Emergency Broadcast Network used to be pretty active in the caco society doing guerrilla broadcasts in suburban areas. --(their videos rock by the way). that's something i miss hearing about.

thanks unjonharley,

just a head's up. thinking of ways to educate the public on this.......-(posters?)

about 3 weeks ago, my wife was shopping down at the good will at van ness, and she was thumbing throw the clothes racks for a few minutes.

later that night, her hand blistered up like she had come in contact with something very caustic on the places on her hand that was brushing through the clothing.

she went down to the good will to talk to the manager which i mentioned she do, just to notify them of the incident and to let their staff know what had happened. maybe someone turning in clothes that had a chemical on them, maybe they spray their clothes with chemicals, etc...-(i was out of town during this which was so helpless feeling)...

the manager at the store wouldn't even look at her hand that was GROSSLY blistered and red, and totally skirted around the entire issue, which in return made her feel like shit. she didn't go down there with the intention to sue anyone, she went down just to bring it to their attention...(she went to the haight free medical and got treated. the burn lastd for 2 weeks.)

just a head's up for anyone that shops there.
she didn't come in contact with anything that day, except brushing through clothes, and the burn was only where her hand came in contact with the clothes. so it was an isolated occurance pointing to GW.

do any of you conscious and informed people know a proper avenue to take to help deter this from happening to others? or a civil group to bring it to attention with?
-(you can PM me with info if your uncomfortable posting here).

i'm not looking to do something illegal, just something proper.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance,
-b

I've long suspected that they (meaning those stores in general) spray clothing with some sort of purfumy stuff--I've never had a reaction to it though.

As for advise--see if you can get a statement on paper from the doctor. Copy it and write a letter and send it to the store manager, the local CA headquarters in Sacramento, the HQ in Seattle or portland or whereever, (and put in cc's at the bottom of the letter so everyone knows that you're sending to others.) If you see some event that is co-sponcered by GW or which they seem to be using as publicity send a copy to the organizers of that event.

These people should at least give you a polite, well-crafted brush-off, not just a panicked one.

"Something is happening to America, not something dangerous but something all too safe. I see it in my lifelong friends. I am a child of the "baby boom", a generation not known for its sane or cautious approach to things. Yet suddenly my peers are giving up drinking, giving up smoking, cutting down on coffee, sugar, and salt. They will not eat red meat and go now to restaurants whose menus have caused me to stand on a chair yelling, "Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, dinner is served!" This from the generation of LSD, Weather Underground, and Altamont Rock Festival! And all in the name of safety! Our nation has withstood many divisions - North and South, black and white, labor and management - but I do not know if the country can survive division into smoking and non-smoking sections."O'Rourke, P.J.

Being a member of 'that' generation, I can tell you exactly what happened: They became 'Yuppies'... most of them... and began to acquire 'Money' and with that money they acquired 'things'... and then decided that they didn't want to lose those things and they acquired 'fear'... and fear settled deep into their systems, so they became 'facists' (because the fuel of facism is 'fear')... and they decided that 'everyone else' must live as they do, or be put away, far from them in a section called 'smoking'... and thus Good and Evil were created.

Blow smoke in their faces (or up their butts), give away all that you might acquire, lose fear, accept others...

or else join them...

Eh, I think most of this stuff happens naturally when you bear spawn. It forces you to grow up and grow old. I'm not saying people shouldn't do it, just that once you start admonishing others to eat their vegetables before they get dessert, well, I think it's all downhill from there.

My kids (6) come up hippie and now the grand kids are catching on. Had to stop smoking after the heart attack. Smoked to much, now it hurt my lungs if some one smokes near me. Mom went on. Canser, may be from a crazy pottato. Who knows?
