BM Souvenirs...

Post by kidblonde » Mon Sep 05, 2005 9:31 pm

I wanted to add...
Does anyone know where I can get some creative Burning Man 2005 stickers &/or patches as keep sakes?
Is there a place on the BM website or elsewhere to get BM 2005 momentos??

why not make your own? not necessarily for the masses, but just one item that has personal significance to YOU. what are the qualities, ideals, characteristics of burning man you want to remember? you may not find this in a purchased item made by someone else.

for next year try lamplighters

Post by Trishya333 » Wed Sep 07, 2005 6:23 pm

if you volunteer for the lamplighters you will get a cool souveneer of some kind. this year we got a small head , that fit on a small leather neclace, with the motto on it : ILLUMINATION, navigation, celebration. the backside of the head has images of flames, the man, and a lamp + 2005.
This is a great group of people to hook up with and they use over 100 volunteers a night. Every volunteer takes home an awesome gift.
Check them out!

What are you blind? You missed the merch tent? It was like right there man. Right near the giant metal thing that flashed and blinked at night. Hats, T-shirts, buttons, postcards, etc. I got my BM Hoodie for $45 bucks there. I was gonna buy a patch but I ran outta Monopoly money.

stickers

Post by chinook » Thu Sep 08, 2005 11:52 pm

There was one sticker that I saw on the Purple Palace bus and would like to have. I wasn't able to track down the source while there. It had Homer Simpson drooling and saying "mmmmm.....playa dust" with the burn dates, etc. Sound familiar??

I suppose your ticket stub won't suffice.

Or the half-a-room of your stuff that's covered in dust.

Or the packet of stuff you got at the gate.

Or your spinning head (write it down, quick).

Seriously, plenty of opportunity to gather necklaces, stickers, etc. that people made/distributed while there. The cafe alone featured a do-it-yourself t-shirt maker (available 24/7- with spray paint!) and a guy inside doing a different variety as well for part of the time, not to mention printed material out the wazoo. I think it's best to let that sort of thing come to you if it comes to you (I received a couple cool stickers that way) and if it doesn't, then it doesn't (I missed out on thousands of other bits of BM schwag that way. Whew.)

Some camps will have stickers left over and will send them to you instead of trashing them. I got plenty of stickers for the truck this year and, even better, some medallions that I can use to make some very special necklaces for the people I camped with (thanks Playa Go Round!).

Anyway, if you want some stickers, I'd start a thread with a title like, "Send me your leftover 2005 stickers".

If you want a Black Rock necklace like the ones people made in our camp, I can send you one. Just PM me with your favorite color glass beads (or we can make them out of nickel plated, silver plated or brass beads) and I'll mail them out for ya.

By the way, if anyone picked-up any rocks and wants to send them to me to make a necklace for you (or, if you have a big rock, for you and others), PM me. I need more rocks for next year's camp.

Thank you all for the creative input..!
Ok! So I missed out on a few things at BM.
This was my first one so I was greatly overwhelmed by ALOT of
everything.
Definitely needed to stay there longer...

I will keep my eye open and when I have some time maybe create
a BM souvenir to share with others..
