Since I can't figure out how to put in a picture, you'll have to see "Larry in Love" via this link:

His heart is mine, but he's still in a state of "wow." Thanks Ms. Kreme!

Hi Rian!!

wonderful to see you in person again sissy!! Come see me in humboldt, dammit!!
sputnik wrote:Thanks dear. It was really good to finally put faces to names. Glad to see you didn't have to get messages from your kids months after the fact this year. How did having them with you work out?
hmmm...still processing...at first I was bitter 'cuz between work and the kids I didn't have much of my own burn experience, but in the last few days i have been deluged with notes from folks who had the life-changing experience and are thanking me for my role in that...and the girls are glowing and grounded like no other kid in town. They had a great time and have great stories. So - it was a bit rough, and I had to give up my yahoo-frat-boy good time, but welcome to motherhood, eh? I am really glad that they get to see the freedom and expression, and many folks were really glad to have them around. Kids keep us honest, ya know? So - all in all: very glad I brought them, and very sure that I won't next year!

I don't remember seeing you after the windmill burn, so I'd like to congratulate you and you comrades on a fine project well executed. Thanks for adding to the Burning Man experience.

Thanks. It was great for us. They went exactly as planned. Too bad the org's plan for the burn platform wasn't so good.

They told us to make the platform out of 2x4 with a sheet metal top.

The 2x4s burned completely. The playa was deeply scorched.

They did (or will do) the major cleanup.

I thought it was dumb to put combustables under the metal, but what do I know.
It's going to be alright.

I did, but I had a long trip out anyway. I rode out on the bus that was in our camp. He was picking up a couple of other guys on the way out. We broke camp and were ready to leave around 1pm. We picked up the first guy with little problem. When we got to the second camp around 2, they hadn't even started tearing down. By 6pm he was almost done. We hit the gates at sunset. Didn't actually get into a hotel in Reno until 2am. It was a long day. Flight out of Reno in the morning was the worst I have ever been on, whiteknuckled the whole way.
