crazy Black Rock New Orleans dream...

Post by ZaphodBurner » Fri Sep 09, 2005 4:47 pm

The day I heard about New Orleans...Tuesday, (Mardi Burn) my mind went into something like denial. A sick joke. An utterly fucking horrible playa prank. A storm blown out of proportion by asshole hysteriamongers. On Sunday, at the temple, the guilt of remaining in Black Rock while all of this was happening crushed me and still at random moments, slaps me in the face.

In my waking delirium this morning, I seized an unfinished and screwball dream I'd had in which David Best had been hired first to restore the St. Louis Cathedral, and then to rebuild New Orleans.

In fact, my psyche had rambled, a large section of the city had been cleared into a flat, empty square-circle...tabula rasa... Near the center, a single extending high-lift rose into the sky, flower pedals fluttering in the breeze. I turned and there was a pyramid, all white lights and flashing neon letters up its black center column. ... the St. Charles streetcar rattled around in its course, (Lee Circle?) a brass band on its roof...

...ah, well. I woke up happier than I was when I went to sleep (on the floor, in front of CNN.) They really ought to consider David Best, though. It's not their fault.

having lived in new orleans some time ago, and being a great fan of grand dream scapes, that description gave me the chills.

i actually had the idea that we cancel burning man for next year, and that we all put our time, effort, and creativity into rebuilding that amazing town. seriously.

speaking of random dreams coming true. this year on the playa i was walking past gigsville and saw this huuuuge tent. i peeked inside to see everyone's regular camping tents. it tripped me out, because it looked very much like a scene from a burning man dream i had several years ago.
that bra doesn't fit and you're not going to wear it any more
