Lecter's Burn (Burning Man Photo Gallery)

Post by Lecter » Tue Sep 13, 2005 1:09 am

I've put together a photo gallery over the past week. My virgin burn experience is in it (some parts subtle, some not so subtle), and I've decided to share it with all of my non-burner friends. I figured that some of you may get a kick out it too:

http://lecter.org/fotos/BM05/

I kept the photos large, so they may take a while to download.

Any comments are welcome.

-Best,

L

Thanks for the kind comments guys!

I'm very happy I have the photo of me in front of the fire. Took three tries in the midst of the chaos of the burn. Way too close to the fire. Utterly intense, positively unforgettable.

How did those containers you have in the first pic work out? I'm looking for both a better way to transport all the bead stuff and a better way to store stuff/stay organized while out there.

Hi DallasPlaya,

The containers worked great. Only one developed a small crack. When you empty them out, they stack together nicely. And they are cheap ($5 at most home supply depots).

if i make it to the burn next year, who knows, I may have to do dueling chai giveaway.

I have not tried your chai, but it has to be better than the center camp chai.
too much cardamom.

what is your recipe?

I think Chai Guy's recipe is:

One part revolution
One part gifting
One part community
One part enthusiastic spirit

Mix well, stir to taste, serve with smile.

Lecter, beautiful pictures. Chai, you're a hottie!

Lecter, in the picture of Thunderdome, on the far right, my friend's gas powered bike is propped against the side of the building. It was accidentally left on the playa (by an asshole campmate who promised to bring it back). I've posted messages here on Eplaya and other forums. Would you be willing to send me that picture so that we have a picture of her bike?

I can see myself in the crowd at Thunderdome also! (I have a tattoo on my left shoulder).

Thanks Miss Nev!

I've cropped the photo down to the bikes on the right. Does this help?

Wow, man! Never thought I'd find a nude photo of my ex-girlfriend on somebody's website.

You didn't lend her any money, didja? ;>

Excellent photography, by the way. This year, in the sheer spirit of tourism, Mizz Sharika and I decided to leave the camera behind whenever possible 'cause no matter what, somebody else always has absolutely breathtaking photos of the same stuff.

(Ex-girlfriends excluded.) ;>

As ever, thanks to all you amazing photographers!

Hey, look! It's me! Ruining your picture!
And look at the ground right next to me. I guess now I know where I lost that Sharpie Mini!

At least I'm watching the crowd in ONE of those pics.

Your site is just AWESOME !! As cool as the pictures are.... and they are VERY cool, what I'm most impressed with is your "preamble" and explanation (or attempt to explain) of what BM is and what it was for you. Very inspiring, very resonant for me !! Thanks !!

Lecter your pictures are the best I've ever seen. You so perfectly caught so many aspects of playa life. You are truly gifted.

And it was an honor getting to know you.
