Do you recycle?

Post by Fat SAM » Tue Sep 13, 2005 9:37 pm

I've been doing this thing for a couple years now...I was recycling cans after parties and taking them down to the aluminum center. We were getting .25 a pound or something - not a great rate; it made it almost not worth the trip. I thought about putting them out on the curb on recycling days, but why should the man get the money? The alternative I found is to save up cans in big black bags as if I'm going to recycle them myself and then, when I see a guy on my street fishing for tin in the trash, I give him my big bags of cans...

Just an idea. Maybe if you guys hadn't thought of it, you could give it a try, if you're so inclined. One of those...live the Playa things or some shit. Plus it gets those cans out of the house. I wouldn't do it if there wasn't some pragmatic element, of course.
Thanks to Addis, I had more free time.

In the words of Tom Stoppard:

"Pragmatism!? Is that all you have to offer?"
“We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.”

Is this a serious topic? I can't tell.

Yes, I recycle and compost, on and off the playa.

It is pretty awesome to see the amount of trash we take home after the full week, it's really tiny, probably equal to one plastic shopping bag full. It's amazing how much you can keep out of landfill.

Yeah it's serious. Did you read the topic post? Give your cans to the homeless. That's the topic. It's pretty easy. Then Ranger Genius made a pun. Then I posted one word three times, which wasn't that funny, really. But neither was the pun.

Anyway, go back and read the post. Then you'll understand better. The title was to sort of segue into the actual topic of the thread...

I read it. In SF I don't have to give my recycling to anyone, dudes in trucks come and rifle through it the night before trash day every week.

I merely suggest that the position of the sun, if it is out, would give you a rough idea of the time; alternatively, the clock, if it is goiing, would give you a rough idea of the position of the sun. I forget which you're trying to establish.
