It's not the first time I've made someone's plonk list and it certainly won't be the last. It comes with the territory.

Back to the thread I think I found the best description possible. There were so many to chose from that fit.

Ferrous Cranus is utterly impervious to reason, persuasion and new ideas, and when engaged in battle he will not yield an inch in his position regardless of its hopelessness. Though his thrusts are decisively repulsed, his arguments crushed in every detail and his defenses demolished beyond repair he will remount the same attack again and again with only the slightest variation in tactics. Sometimes out of pure frustration Philosopher will try to explain to him the failed logistics of his situation, or Therapist will attempt to penetrate the psychological origins of his obduracy, but, ever unfathomable, Ferrous Cranus cannot be moved.

Ah, it's nice to read so many informed and articulate points of view. I live in kind of a redneck town, where about 70% of the people voted for George Bush. So as I'm sure you can imagine, not really used to hearing many articulate arguments. It's refreshing to be reminded that there are some people who can still think out there. I must say, I would it like even more if y'all didn't feel the need to resort to name-calling, especially because I'm sure were all on the same side here. We're all for civil liberties, and against fascism I'm sure. Another thing that I think we're all in agreement upon, is the fact that the response to this hurricane disaster has been a major debacle. That being said, I'm providing this link, http://political.moveon.org/katrinacomm ... aBquCg&t=4 where you can sign a petition for a Katrina commission modeled after the 9/11 commission. Basically an independent commission appointed to analyze what really happened in aftermath of Katrina.
One more thing that I would like to add here, is that I believe it's a dangerous precedent to have military contractors who are essentially professional killers patrolling the streets of a United States city. hi DO'T

I feel so bad I didn't mail you anything from the playa. I was certain I'd packed your addy, stamps and cards but I couldn't find them! Well, now I've been unpacking, I've figured out which tote they'd be stashed in. D'oh!

And I didn't do much in the way of schwag either ... it was one of those years. Great but meandering. Which is as it should be!

I know you surgery is coming up fast, hope all goes well. I may be a poor communicator, but you're in my thoughts daily.

Take very good care of yourself, sending bestest energy and warmely wishes your way,

margaret
