Need old ginding wheels, gears and sawblades

Post by Angry Butterfly » Tue Sep 30, 2003 9:51 pm

My husband is making a "Sawblade Harmonica" Like a glass harmonica but with metal stuff, any old gears, grinding wheels and dull sawblades would be usefull, we also need a motor strong enough to turn the thing.
I took the road less traveled, and now I would like to go back and find the paved one.

:?: Angry (is it ok if I call you by your first name?),
What size range are you looking for? I have a broken tree trimmer blade, and some small jig saw blades, as well as dull (and tiny) dremel grinding wheels. I probably can accumulate some stuff as well from the machinist at work. And since I work at a printshop with bg presses, I can probably get big old gears.
BTW - I work in Hayward

At my shop in Oakland, among other things, I rebuild transmissions. I have boxes and boxes of gears and other parts that might be useful. No charge. Let me know if you have any specific needs.

Thank you for all your posts, and I will contact you ( probably in January ) after we work on the design some more.

I have lots and lots of gears, motors and other mechanical things that might be helpful. I am just up 880 a little ways from you. Feel free to PM me when you are ready to start your project.

I LOVE IT!!! I must, must, MUST be allowed to play it! I assume it's based on the same idea as a glass armonica, but that this one will have sawblades around the spindle, and that it'll be played by placing something else against the sawblades that'll cause both music and pretty sparky-type thingses?

ME MUST PLAY!!!
