Space heaters?
Thinking about doing the no-RV thing next year. If I drive like I'm planning to, I really don't need it that much. I would, however, like to have a way to keep people warm while visiting my camp (at this point, two 10x20 carports). I know that heaters don't work well with the costco carports but I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what kind(s) of heaters to get and any advice on using them.
Thanks!

It's what you make it.
I would say you don't need any heaters. People who drop by are already dressed for being out for the night.
If you _must_ have a heater, consider the Coleman line:

Louise and I have a table-top version of the Pation Heater. Runs on the same propane cannisters as the stoves. (We don't use it at BM; it's for our patio.)

I'm not endorsing the site but they have images of a couple things I use on our winter float trips...
http://www.air-n-water.com/heaters-commercial.htm
The small units at the top of the page hook up to a 100 lb propane cylinder but there's a wide range of options out there. That page should give you more ideas about your choices.
Going off on a tangent for small spaces I've got two of the Mr. Buddy propane heaters that can be used inside tents and relatively confined spaces...they use the small cans of propane and are really tough. One of mine fell out of a storage bag and ended up in about 20 feet of water at the bottom of a lake, it was retrieved, dried out and it still works. It won't work for what you have in mind with a large space...but if you froze your rear end off in a tent like I did a couple of years back those heaters are wonderful.

Curious, it's working for me. All their catalytic heaters end in Cat -- SportCat, BlackCat, ProCat, GolfCat -- so googleColeman's site appears to be down. Do you have a model number?
coleman cat
and see if that doesn't turn up REI, Campmor, and other vendors. The model that I have is not listed, so it may have been discontinued.
Try http://www.coleman.com/ and see if that isn't back up for you. Try the link to heaters.

The one I have would do a dome. It's about the size of a medium suit case. The top of the dome would have to be closed while heating. So the expanded air/heat will stay in. Maybe a small (6inch12volt) fan to bring the upper air down.
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.
