I read the pathology report and surprisingly enough understood it well enough.
You folks don't mind if I get into it?
They pulled a mass out of me that was composed of half the rectum, sigmoid colon, uterus, tubes and ovaries. It was about the size of a grapefruit and weighed around ten pounds. The uterus, tubes and ovaries weren't involved in the cancerous tissue but they were adhered and had to come out, otherwise they couldn't have gotten the sigmoid out. With colon cancer they take the ovaries out just as a matter of course.
Before anyone yells "Arrogance!," don't apply it to me. Apply it to a case of someone who wants kids. Heck, one of the first things I asked my doctor was, "Hey, while you got me open, can you tie my tubes?" They said yeah, but there wouldn't be much point since the ovaries were coming out anyway. I don't really miss 'em. No more period, no more PMS, no chance of getting oopsed!
(Fellas, don't get excited, I'm still gonna insist on rubbers)
They took out 32 lymph nodes and three had cancer cells in them. That's why I gotta get radiation and chemo for the next seven weeks/six months respectively, and tests every six months for the next 2-3 years.
In short, there's a chance the cancer will take up residence somewhere else. But the good news is, the chemo/radiation is cutting my chances of that happening from even money to 30-70 my favour. Plus if it shows up anywhere, it'll be at first stage at best and we'll be on top of it. It won't get to Stage 3 like this did. I'll be done with the chemo and radiation and fairly well healed up by next BayCon, so we still have a date Kooshie

That's always the scary part - realizing you're starting to speak their language.diane o'thirst wrote:I read the pathology report and surprisingly enough understood it well enough.
Are you on Jewelz's Yahoo group yet? (I know Anti M is; PM her for the info if you need it, 'cause I'm having no luck tracking it down.)
I look forward to seeing you at con next year, hon - and to seeing you and Mr. Koosh eyeing each other over an adult beverage and heartily toasting FUCK CANCER! *hugs*

That's an exact quote from my sweetie Gigglesnort when I read your post to her, Cowboy.
I don't want to write anything else at this point. Except of course to politely suggest that you take that $20 and shove it up your ass.
Let me know if you need help.
holy fuck, diane....cheers to you! *that* is insane. i send you uber-blessings on continued success....FUCK CANCER!!
they're gonna be yanking a 'cyst' outta me pretty soon...not nearly as big, and they say it's benign, but want to take it anyway. maybe part or all of an ovary, too. i said, "fine! take whatever you need to!". same response...but see, i have my two kids - don't need any more, don't mind losing what i don't need, yeah?
thanks for sharing. i am strengthened and inspired. you are a rock star in my book!

Hopefully a "cool" rock star, like Brian May or En Esch...I've met too many rock stars that sucked canal water, personality-wise...
Yeah, I had ovarian cysts. My sister has 'em too. Apparently it runs in the family. But yeah, you and your mate replaced yourselves, 'tis time to stop!
I don't miss 'em at all

Andrew Jackson has better things to do than examine the interior of cowboy's
sewer system. But I am glad that you have found happiness with a wonderful writer, Mom and person, you therefore, must possess the right qualifications. Love to ya man.

glad to see you back giggle, your sense of humor seems to a bit more refined than that of some others.... I hope you weren't offended by my flag waving...it was only meant to get your attention....since I haven't seen you here for awhile, hope all is fine.....keep up your excellent writing too.
I once had an old gentleman friend from Loiusianna that I took care of. His name was Otis Durbin. Hw was a WWI vet....almost shot his comanding officer for attempting to order him to go "over" to observe German movements....well Otis never learned to drive, and when his wife used to piss him off, he'd take a walk outside waving a 5 or 10 dollar bill in the air in the hopes of attracting a ride...it always worked
Love, cba
