I just love how upset all the little girls look. "Daddy, Daddy! Don't vote for Bush - he throws puppies on the ground!"

Thanks Badger

Post by PleasureSean » Mon Oct 20, 2003 10:04 pm

Not quite a gift, but a heartfelt thanks...

We had a problem with a next door neighbor blasting really loud (and what we thought was really bad) music directly into our camp very early in the week. We hadn't set too much of our camp up yet, so we decided it would be easier to move our camp rather than try and negotiate their volume level all week. Well, one of the artists in our camp (Twister of the Fire Grid) contacted Badger who then came over after he had just done an 18 hour Ranger shift to see if he could help out. We all went over and mentioned to the loud camp that their insensitivity to the surrounding neighbors caused us a lot of grief and extra effort. The loud camp heard us out and they turned out to be very cool about it. Some of our friends who stayed in the area felt that the loud camp was a much better neighbor with regard to their sound after we had talked with them.

Anyway, I felt Badger's presence in the dialogue with the loud camp added a level of authority that made the loud camp wake up and take the complaints seriously. Also, I think his presence kept people's temper's in check during the process and let us all get through a little conflict and then on to enjoying a fantastic time on the playa.

So thanks for taking the time to help us out Badger - a lot of people ended up having a much better experience because of it.

Sean,

Thanks for the kind words but as I remember it you and your campmates were the one's armed to the teeth with civility and good intentions - even when it meant that you spoke of your disappointment to the camp in question.

The way you folks went about dealing with the problems was as good an examplae as I've ever witnessed. I actually went back to my camp and took notes to incorporate your 'style' as an example to emulate at the next Ranger trainings we'll be having.
