Paintball guns with propane instead of CO2
Paintball guns with propane instead of CO2
Okay, so we can't shoot paintballs on the playa, but take a look at this:

There's got to be a way to shoot flames out of this thing instead of paintballs, right?

Hmmm...
a plastic non-sealable flamethrower. WOuld be quite a show.
Could you do me a favor first - make me the benecficiary of your life policy, k?
Then when it catches fire, melts down to the valve, and blows up, I get my icket paid for!
All kidding aside - NOT a good idea for the above reasons.

All the more reason to do it.Bay Bridge Sue wrote:All kidding aside - NOT a good idea for the above reasons.
One of my friends has valentine deelie boppers on his head -- red plastic hearts, and he set them on fire. Plastic melts, of course, but it was worth it, however briefly. I don't know where all this safety concern comes from, but we need to stamp it out.
(Oh, the burning hearts were in Oakland or Emeryville, I can't tell the difference.)

The C-3 is made of alimnuim and other composite construction. It will not melt! www.tippmann.com is where you can learn more....

Oakland = gritty urban area around an estuary. E-ville = warehouse district + condos galore + shopping malls. The sewage plant is in Oakland.phil wrote:(Oh, the burning hearts were in Oakland or Emeryville, I can't tell the difference.)

Oooh oooh oooh... (BBS's hand flails wildly in the air)... Local history time!theCryptofishist wrote:The sewage plant is in Oakland.phil wrote:(Oh, the burning hearts were in Oakland or Emeryville, I can't tell the difference.)
THAT sewer plant happens to be next to a piece of land called the Oaland Mole (no one can tell me what that meant, but it's called that on 150 year old maps!) which was originally used as the western terminus of this thing called the transcontinental railroad... yes, THAT transcontinental railroad.
Later, it was the westernmost end of the first transcontinental highway, which was named the "Lincoln Highway". Like the railway, there was a ferry link to San Francisco to "attach" it to the terminus, but the end of the actual road went under where the current toll plaza buildings are now and to the ferry slips out on the mole...
Now it's being widened (yet again) to anchor the east end of the new San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, and build a new toll plaza complex. Sadly, they're tearing down my office in another couple years to make room for it all (which is in the middle of yon freeway). Sad watching history go bye-bye...
What brought this about? When I first started working here, the road to our maintenance facility is named "Mole Road"... No one knew why or how it got named that, so I did a bit o' research. Amazing what you can find out over the course of 12 or so years...
Now... how's THAT for thread drift?? >>grins<<

Yeah, but you might need to remove the O rings. I think the safest bet would be to ignite the fire outside the barrel like Ripley's flamethrower in Alien.RegRad wrote:The C-3 is made of alimnuim and other composite construction. It will not melt! www.tippmann.com is where you can learn more....
I used to have one of the first Tippmans made. Played in a lot of poison oak. In 1991 we went up to a park out beyond Corvallis to go play and some granola hikers called the police, said we were going up there with assault weapons. Totally surrounded us. Was crazy.
The gun was very accurate but made of very cheap material. Eventually the bolt cap blew back and hit me in the eye...fortunately I had goggles.

What better way to raise the chilluns right than to give them a 16oz bottle of pressurized propane!
Safety-shmafety. There's that safety crap again. Let's ignite it _in_ the chamber, then blow out a ball of flame. SeeZaphodBurner wrote:I think the safest bet would be to ignite the fire outside the barrel like Ripley's flamethrower in Alien.

(slow download, but worth it).
Now see, you missed your opportunity for a gread lawsuit. As it is, you had no damages if you sued. You shoulda shot at the cops with your paint guns. They'd have shot back, then you'd have _damages_.... some granola hikers called the police, said we were going up there with assault weapons. Totally surrounded us. Was crazy.
Well, that's why we've got two eyes. The gun was very accurate but made of very cheap material. Eventually the bolt cap blew back and hit me in the eye
